Ruth Locust drapes altar Wilsons retire after 24 years of teaching
for past members
Ruth Locust Chapter No. 32,
O .E.S., held a draping the altar
ceremony at their May meeting for
Past Grand Patrons, Past Grand
Patrons, and local chapter Eastern
Star members who passed away this
chapter year. The members were
Ruby Roberts, Gladys Drake, and
Neva House. Since then a long-time
member, Virginia Rosewall from
Milton-Freewater, has passed away.

NOTICE OF HEARING
The County of Morrow will hold
a public hearing on the 31 st day of
July, 1991 at 7:30 o ’clock p.m., at
Boardman City Hall, 206 Main
Street North, Boardman, Oregon, to
hear and consider any objections to
or arguments in favor there may be
apon the matter of the formation of
a Library District in the Boardman
area. All interested persons may ap
pear and be heard.
The Morrow County Court has
entered an order declaring its inten
tion to initiate formation of said
district.
The purpose for which the district
is to be formed is to facilitate general
library services to the public, in
cluding, but not limited to, providing
the following:
(1) non-fiction, fiction, and large
print books on loan;
(2) periodicals on loan;
(3) cassette and laser disc video
material;
(4) reference material;
(5) on-line computer reference and
interlibrary loan material;
(6) on-line access to state library
computer data bases;
(7) children's library material and
story hours;
(8) meeting locale;
(9) literacy and information access
services;
The name of the proposed district
is “ The Boardman Special Library
District” , and its boundaries are
identical to the boundaries of Mor
row County Voting Precincts
Number 1 and Number 2, more
specifically described as follows:
Beginning at the junction of the Col
umbia River and the line between
Range 25 EWM and Range 26
EWM; thence South along said line

Several chapter members have
recently attended installation
ceremonies at Bushee Chapter No.
19 of Pendleton, Queen Esther
Chapter No. 101 of Hermiston, and
Umatilla Chapter No. 107.
The next stated meeting of Ruth
Locust Chapter No. 32 will be on
Monday, September 10.
Evans elected
beef council
chairman
Wayne Evans
Wayne Evans has been elected
chairman of the Oregon Beef Coun
cil, the education and promotional
arm of the state’s $363 million beef
cattle industry.
Eelected vice chairman was Jim
Chapman who heads a ranching
operation outside Klamath Falls.
Turner dairy farmer Arthur Van
Veldhuizen, immediate past council
chairman, will serve a term as
treasurer. The action took place dur
ing the council’s annual meeting held
in Salem.
Evans, a Heppner cattle and wheat
rancher is a partner in the family
owned Evans ranches. He served as
vice-chairman of the council for the
past two years. He is a past presi
dent of Morrow County Livestock
Growers, is a director of the Mor
row County Rodeo and a member of
the Oregon Wheat Growers League.
He also is a past vice president of the
Oregon Cattlemen's Association and
served on several OCA committees.
The new council chairman is a
native o f H eppner who was
graduated from Oregon State
University. His wife Susan, is a
former president of the Oregon Cat-
tleWomen’s Association. They have
a daughter, Kelsie, 14.
Council members nominated Van
Veldhuizen as Oregon’s director on
the National Live Stock and Meat
Board. Also announced was the ap
pointment of Bob Beck of Antelope
to the council. Beck replaces Reid
Johnson, who retired from the coun
cil after six years of service. Johnson
served as chairman from 1987 to
1989.

State Teacher’s College in Nebraska
over 40 years ago. He was a senior
