Puppeteers entertain in Heppner
Extension
group meets

Morrow County Extension met on
Tuesday, March 21 at Paul’s
Restaurant in Irrigon for their
regular meeting with president
Isabelle Jones presiding. Eight
members were present.
The main issue of the day was the
district meeting to be held at St. Pat’s
Center in Heppner. There will be
door prizes, speakers and special
music. Study group members are
asked to send in a pre-registration for
a luncheon count. Sepcialty breads
and coffee will be served at 10 a. m.

a Russian Folk Tale, "Baba Yaga".
The puppeteers are touring in the
Columbia Gorge area, including The
Dalles, Centerville, Mosier and
White Salmon.
Each year the Tears of Joy Theatre
performs for over 200,000 people
throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Day Care receives grant for
pre-school scholarships
Heppner Day Care received a
$1,000 grant from the Community
Action Program of East Central
Oregon (CAPECO).
This grant will be used to send
children to pre-school who would be
otherwise financially unable to
attend.

The Board of Directors of Hepp­
ner Day Care will set up the
guidelines of the scholarship pro­
grams. Applications will be available
for parents to fill out. The scholar­
ship will be based on need.
"W e hope to be able to continue
this scholarship program through
different fund raisers and from
businesses and private individuals,”
said Day Care director Kathy
Tellechea. Anyone wishing to make
a donation to the pre-school scholar­
ship fund may do so by sending a
check to Heppner Day Care Inc. PO
Box 44. Heppner or drop by the Day
Care during regular business hours.
Day Care requests that donors
specify on the check that it is to be
used for the pre-school scholarship
fund. All donations are tax
deductible.
HHS class of 1971
plans reunion
The Heppner High School class of
1971 will be making plans for their
20 year reunion at the Heppner Elks
club, Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m.

annual Spray Rodeo
Plans are underway for the 1991
44th annual Spray Rodeo and 26th
annual Eastern Oregon Half-
Marathon May 25 and 26.
Rodeo stock will be furnished by
Rattray Rodeos of Condon. An­
nouncer will be Jake Grossmiller of
Wasco. George Kinter of Top-
penish, WA., will be clown and
bullfighter.
