G u n C l u b scheduled Saturday Are you prepared for a layoff, a sudden illness, or a natural disaster? Hermiston Personal and Com munity Preparedness Fair may help in finding the answers if one of these emergencies would hit you and your family. The fair will be held Satur day, March 9, from 3-7 p.m. at 850 S.W. 11th Hermiston, Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints. The fair will feature booths on food storage, such as canning, dehydrating, dry-pack canning and water storage. Seventy-two hour emergency kits will be on display also. The Red Cross, Army Depot, Hanford emergency and others will have information on what to do in case of tornadoes, earthquakes and other disasters. The Willow Creek Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons), Lexington, will have booths on food dehydrating and water storage. Correction L-R: Tiffany Munkers and Tina Kemp do a demonstration Gilliam, Wheeler and Morrow Counties will hold the annual Presentation Field Day at Morrow County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, March 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. All 4-H members, parents, adult and teen leaders are invited to ‘Speakeasy” . “ Single Sentence” speaking ac tivities will be introduced by Cindy Osterlund, 4-H leader and presenta tions promoter. Cindy will share “ ABC's of Presentations” . Viewing memorable presentations from 1990 county fairs will demonstrate suc cessful ways to incorporate presen tation fundamentals. The popular “ On the Spot” presentations will be on the after noon agenda. New topics and prop kits will make this more fun than ever. For anyone currently working on a presentation, there will be an op portunity for a one-on-one critique with a judge. There will also be a short session of enrichment ideas for parents, adult and teen leaders. There is no charge to attend. Cer tificates of participation will be aw arded to those attending. The last paragraph of a story in the Feb. 27 Gazette-Times entitled “ Ed Hiemstra honored for prestigious sports career” was in error. It should have read, Theresa’s children are Trisha, who was a starter on her basketball team at Hanford High and Colum bia Basin College. Now living in Walla Walla, her husband is a medic in Riyadh, Saudi, Arabia; and Nicole, who is a sophomore at Han ford. She was a starter on a soccer team which won a state title. This year she is a starter on a district championship basketball team. Mike Adams slammed 22 clay pigeons for the top score which was turned into Walla Walla in the telephonic shoot. Belt buckles donated by Pat Cutsforth and Morrow County Gun Club were used as trophies in the gun club competition. Trophy win ners were. Class A-Steve Peck; class B-Pat Lovgren and class C-Curt Day. Runners-up in class A-a tie bet ween Mike Adams and Ron Haguewood; class B-Sherron Wood- side and class C-Roger Mortimore. A short power outage added to the problems, postponing the handicap club trophy shoot competition until March 10. Mike Gorman maintains his lead. Other shooters making a stand against the adverse weather condi Senior class to raffle bike The senior class is selling raffle tickets for a racing bike to earn money for their trip to Disneyland. Coca Cola Bottling Company of Pendleton, donated the bike for the seniors to raffle. Tickets are available for $ 1 each at Court Street Market or by contac ting any senior. A hardy group completed the day shooting ‘Annie Oakley s’. Four winners showed their sharp shooting skills: Clint Barber, Pat Lovgren, Gary Clark and Roger Mortimore. Engagements display in the window of Country Rose from Saturday. March 9. until Friday, March 15. There will be a list of the senior class members along with the bike. Anyone who has not purchased tickets by March 16 may do so at the Elephant Ear booth in front of Les Schwab. The winner will be contacted as soon as possi ble after the drawing. Paula, a 1987 Heppner High School graduate attended Blue Mountain Community College. She is employed at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Ryan, a 1990 HHS graduate is employed at Miller’s Welding. The couple plans an April 6 wedding at the United Methodist Church in Heppner. Jason Britt was an Honorable Mention selection and seniors Brandon Pedro. Rick Osmin and Doug Devin were second team selections. Nikki Brisbois was a first team selection for the Fillies, a very deser ving honor for the senior. Amy Greenup and freshman Holly Eckman were honorable mention selections.
