Trish, 17, works at the state bank. "W e don’t have all the sugary foods (in Australia),” said Trish. The two have had a chance to do a little shop ping and plan on visiting Anaheim, Ca. and Hawaii before returning to Robe. McDaniel picnic set July 15 The McDaniel picnic will be held at Anson Wright Park on July 15 with a pot luck lunch at 1 p.m. The Gilliam and Bisbee Building (1912-1922) on Main and May Streets in Heppner, has been official ly entered into the National Register of Historic Places. The property was nominated to the National Register at the recommen dation of the State Advisory Com mittee on Historic Preservation. Word of the recent action taken in Washington D C., was received by State Historic Preservation officer David G. Talbot. The National Register is maintain ed by the National Park Service, U S. Department of the Interior, under authority of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. The register is the official list of the nation’s cultural resources wor thy of preservation. The list contains districts, sites, archeological sites, buildings, structures and objects of national, state and local significance. Under Oregon’s historic property tax law (ORS 358 475), an owner of a National Register property who is willing to maintain the property’s historic values may apply for special assessment status, in which the true cash value of the property is frozen for a period of 15 years.
