Co-op selects reps to attend camps
Columbia Junior High “ Talented
and Gifted” students took a tour of
Europe when Angelas Smythe of
Boardman presented a program of
slides to the group March 30.
Angela narrated a 45-minute pro
gram of her family’s tour of twelve
European countries last October.
Both she and her brother Jason told
of experiences crossing into East
Germany, the variety of food and
lodging, travel, and the many
peoples of the countries. Twenty-
two students thoroughly enjoyed the
presentation and asked various ques
tions following the time spent with
Angela. Coordinator for the group
is Sally Edinger.

Coach Kevan Pratt said "this was
one of the best games we’ve played,
especially in pitching and defense.”
To finish out the week. Riverside
met up with their cross-county rival.
Umatilla Electric Cooperative
Association selected Amy Ganten-
bein and Randy Beard as their
representatives to attend co-op
camps in Washington, D.C. and
Nevada this summer.
Gantenbein, a junior, will repre
sent Umatilla Co-op in Washington,
D C. She has attended the Umatilla
Electric Co-op camp in Wells,
Nevada. She will learn about several
of the cooperatives and will tour the
capital city.
Junior Randy Beard will attend the
camp in Nevada as the Umatilla Co
op alternate.
If one of the representatives for the
Umatilla Electric Cooperative
Association cannot attend their
camp, sophomore Laurel Glenn will
be the alternate to take that place.
Last year’s Nevada representative,
Mindy Nix, found that she learned
alot, yet still had fun. “ We learned
about electrification, but also about
things that affect our everyday
lives,” said Nix.
