Irrigon, on charges of Rape II. Sexual Abuse II. Attempting to E lude, R esisting A rrest and Recklessly Endangering. Morrow County deputy arrested Cruz Navamv Flores. 47. Boardman for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, No Operators License and Open Container. Morrow County Sheriff s office dispatched the Boardman Fire department to report of a structure fire at Mt Hood and Wilson Road. Morrow County deputy assisted Boardman Police department on a disturbance at the H Bar W in Boardman. Dec. 22: M orrow C ounty Sheriff's office requested the Board man ambulance to respond to the Boardman Clinic for a transfer; Morrow County deputy respond ed to the Irrigon area for a complaint of harrassment Dec 23: Morrow County deputy investigated a car in the ditch in Irrigon; Morrow County Sheriff s office dispatched the Boardman ambulance to transport a male patient to Pendleton Dunng the week of December 18-25, Morrow County deputies assisted one disabled motorist In the Service Army Spec. Donald E. Doherty has been awarded the Good Conduct Medal in West Germany The award was presented for ex emplary conduct while in the active service of the United States Doherty is an infantryman with the 9th Field Artillery He is the son of Charles and Beverly Doherty of lone The specialist is a 1985 graduate of lone high school. Swaggart, 74, Pendleton, was Wednesday. Dec 27 at the Bishop Funeral Chapel Vault interment Dec 27 at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery Mrs Swaggart was horn January 4, 1915, to W W and Vina I. (Kinder) Hinton at Range. Oregon She attended school at Ukiah and graduated from Heppner High School She was married to Gerald Swaggart on June 17, 1930. in Walla Walla. Washington They farmed on Butter Creek and then moved to Hood River in I9VJ They moved to Ukiah in 1938 and tiien to Little But ter Creek in 1941 They retired from the ranch in 1972 and moved to Pendleton where she resided until her death Mrs Swaggart was a member of the Pendleton Women's Club, the Pendleton Country Club and was past president of the Morrow Coun- ty Cow Belles She enjoyed hunting, especially elk hunting, golf, garden ing and music. Mrs Swaggart is survived by her husband. Gerald Swaggart at the home in Pendleton, daughters l-auraine (Mrs. Norm) Peterson of Newherg, Christine Nordcn of Seat tie, WA., and Gen (Mrs John) Burgess of Boise, Idaho, brother Elmer Hinton of Pramc City, seven grandchildren and six g re a t grandchildren She was proceeded in death by one son. I'm not big on resolutions but this year I'm making one 1 do hereby resolve not to start any new project in 1990 Well, that does not include the one I've started in 1989 tJut you won't see until 1990 But aside from that. I will not start anything else, period Let me tell you about this one This is a project I thought ahnut a couple of years ago But it was just too big, too expensive, requires too much hard work, and skills I don't have But then a couple of months ago. a friend of mine, (there is more and more evidence bringing that into question) suggested thjt I take this projest up again I'm a real sucker for a little encouragement All it ever takes is someone to say "E d. why don't you do (any h o i thing), and I can never think of a good reason not to at the time Take tlie vineyard and winery Some guy in Salem lold me I couldn't grow winegrapes in Eastern Oregon Now h*>w could a Icllow like me resist a challenge like that ’ And then there was the box company It started out to make gift boxes for our little winery Somebody said. "W ell, why don't you sell some of tliosc to other wineries No good reas«>n not to The next thing I knew. I was eyeball deep in wood boxes hound lor hall the wineries in tfie Northwest Then one year not so long ago. wc packaged up sonic herbs in sonic little jars for Christmas gifts It was my sister, I think, who said. 3 ou know. I bet you could sell these " And she was right, we did and do Well, here we go again The new projesl is far enough along thal I think we're committed We had to buy a few new things, of course Francie insisted on a budget this time so I made one out I didn't really know what I needed nor h*>w much it cost, so wc exceeded the budget a little Francie says it's thal way with all my new projects I decided the old winery building would be a good place to set up this new project hut it needed to he finished Yes. that's right We never did finish the winery in the six years wc made wine there Well, now wc needed to finish the job My brother brought over a couple of sheets of dry wall. a bucket of mud and some tape Wc had some insuljtion lett over from the first half "Honey, we can finish the winery with just a few bucks in materials," I said A few hundred it’s turned out to he and wc'rc still not done But only paint and that left And wc'vc spent so much now that we can't stop now right’’ I needed some technical stuff too, and sure enough, I had no idea how much until I’d already bought so much that 1 couldn't turn hack You |ust have to have the right tools to do the job Everyone understands that And hoy does it exist Everything seems to go up just when I get ready to buy it I needed some more knowledge too There's a lot about this new pro ject I don't know But I read hooks And I get most ol them from my local library The librarian says she is always surprised when I come in because she can never guess what kind of far-out subject I'm on to this time I'sc been practicing some of my new skills, some of them need a lot more This new project hasn't really come together yet There is still some doubt that it will There is still a lot to do and a lot to buy and the plan, as they say. hasn't yet come together So everyone at tin house is in a major dither I hereby resolve, no new projects for I9U0 Unless TACO FEED FOR CAROL ANN RFA (PALMER) •Sat.
