Morrow County Extension Agent participated in a training workshop held by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) in Jackson Hole. W yom ing, A pril 25-28 The workshop was designed to prepare representatives from community- based organizations to assume leadership roles in implementing AARP's new Women's financial In formation Program fWFTP) WEIP. a national initiative im plcmented at the local level, is designed to empower midlife and older women with the information needed to make informed decisions about their finances This program is c«»-sponsorcd by groups such as Cooperative Extension Service. YWCA and the National Council of Jewish Women, and implemented by a coalition of supporting orgam/a lions that oversees the program and helps to plan for its future expansion As a co sponsor. Bennett joined 2 1 women from around the Pacific Northwest to learn about the basic financial needs o| midlife and older women and to become acquainted with the steps lor implementing the program locally The co-sponsors will now begin the task of organiz ing a senes of seminars in their com munities lo be held in the fall lectures and workshops will be offered as a community service to in crease women's current level of tinanci.il knowledge, to develop con fidcncc in their decision nuking ability, and to gain control over their lives through confident financial management Topics will include Record Keeping and Goal Setting.
