O regon W ednesday, May 10, 1989 Mustang tracksters finish second ï * By Jill C onklin The Heppncr boys withstood very hot and humid conditions Saturday at the Columbia Basin Conference Track meet to finish second behind V. .ihtonka Steve Arbogast, Mike Correa and Bryan Padberg led the way in the Mustang's final tunc up before the district meet winning their events Arbogast won the 100 meter dash in 13 4. Padberg the 800 meter run in 2:02 8, and Correa running the 200 meter dash for the first time d<>skcd 23.3 Heppner s 1.600 meter relay team was also a first place finisher with a time of 3:34 08 Correa teamed with Arbogast in the 100 to take a one-two finish He ran the race in 11 $ Barney Lind say took second place in the 400 meter dash w ith a 34 3 and Padberg was close behind with a time of S4 5 Heppncr's 400 meter relay team of Lindsay. Correa. Jess Osmin and Arbogast rounded out the top three place finishers, running the race in 46 07 Rounding out the Heppncr scoring were Lindsay's fourth place finish in the long jump with a mark of I7 '9 ", Jay Michael's fourth in the HOO at 2 13 94. Dean Munker's fourth in the javelin with a personal best of 142' 10''. Osmin was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47 I . Gahe Garcia and David McCurry also received fifth place finishes in the H00 and 3.000 meter run respectively In the girls' competition Heppncr finished 7th with 17 punts Amy Brownfield won the only event for Heppner taking the 3,000 in 12 40 Sheryl Conklin placed fifth in h«>th hurdle races clicking 20 52 in the HO hurdles and I III 44 in the 300 meter race Rounding out the scoring for the Fillies was Jill Conklin who was fifth in the long jump and sixth in the HIM) * Y* j f Parents Club sponsors dessert The Spring Sports dessert for the Heppncr Junior High students will be Monday. J • » Ponies win last two games By Rick Koffler The Ponies played their last two games in a Joublehcader The games were played May 4 in Arlington The first game was a fight from the beginning to end Heppner came out on top 2-1. The second game was the same way until the 4th inning when Hepp ner broke it open and »cored 7 runs to go up 7 -1 ending with this »core.
