March and Apnl 1989. and approved hiring Jim Gor- danier to replace Al Gordanier as a p m bus driver in Irngon. effective January 3. 1989 The Board heard a strong state ment from Maureen McF.lligott re questing a settlement in certificated negotiations It recognized Sam Pambrun as representative o f the Umatilla E S D Sam reported on the ac tivities and programs o f the E S D Under unfinished business the Board approved the auditor's report for the 1987-88 year. approved a letter o f intent to become a member o f Ed-Net The Oregon Ed Net Committee proposes the creation o f an integrated statewide telecommunications net work When funded. Oregon Ed Net is designed to deliver the mayor com ponents o f a video, voice, and data network which will reach all comers o f the state When completed the net work will he a major addition to the state s education, public service, and economic development infrasiructe As proposed, the state is being ask ed to make an S8 million investment in the creation o f the network This investment represents the capital and operational resources to produce a network that will be self supporting four years after creation -appmved the revised Statement o f Educational Philosophy and Goals for the district; •tabled consideration o f a resolu tion in support o f legislative action to provide stable school funding in Oregon; -authorized expenditure o f an ad ditional $9,267 for continuing asbestos cleanup and encapsulation in the district, and •accepted a bid o f $1,369 from Western Bus Sales for the I960 Greyhound-type bus New business showed that the hoard -ap p roved the inclusion o f $94,920 for computer education fun ding in the 1989 90 budget proposal for examination by the Budget Committee. •ap proved the in clu sion o f $363,712 for transportation funding in the 1989 90 budget proposal for examination by the Budget Commit tee. and •accepted a letter from the M or row County Chapter o f the Oregon School Employees A svxiation re questing n egotiation s tow ard d e v e lo p in g a new C la s s ifie d Employees Contract The Board reviewed a statement o f assurances that the district is in com pliance with those state standards selected for this year's reporting period and heard that they are not presently tn compliance with the re quirement o f having an Abestos Management Plan in place, but i\ in compliance with the approval o f an extension P U B L IC N O T IC E NOTICE Of SERVICE Of PERSONA!.
