June 25th The members of the
Council were viewing the Oregon
Trail from Echo to Me Donald's
Ford lone's responsibility was to
provide lunch and relaxation and I
feel the group enjoyed their brief
stay Charley Davidson entertained
dunng the lunch time with his banjo
and bass drum, and the group com
mented "music at lunch, we'll get
spoiled " The Council left a trail of
dust as over twenty cars left for the
Cecil area to continue their tour
Locals on the tour also included
Billie Davisdson and Laura
Broderick Though the group was
behind on their schedule, and we
could not actually conduct the usual
Oregon Trail Tour, we hope that
they will be able to return again next
summer I was the only one who
hoped that Neil would take (he PGF
helicopter to the site, and surprise us
all with his presence, but alas, he did
not arrive Maybe next year, Mr
Governor.

This week I'd like to pay tribute
to past Chamber President, a
resource person on everything from
canning to community growth and
development, a mover and shaker,
a teacher, leader, quilt maker, kid
motivator, camp cook, grandmother,
advisor, friend, promoter. FCl-
trainer, reader, lair organi/cr, town
and country pusher and all around
great lady The list could go on and
on.
Who is this person ’ Birdine Tullis.
Hcppner's first female Chamber
President and a very special person
June 30 will be tier last day at the
Morrow County Extension Office,
but retirement won't find Birdine in
a rocking chair In fact. Chamber is
counting on her to keep planting in
novativc ideas and encouragemenl in
the county Her continuing adv ice to
us to "get off our duffs" and try new
and different tactics is paying off
We just h*>pe she'll nuke time tor us
in her already busy "retirement"

has made her the vital, interesting
