Jt, _ * Chamber/SBCD Seminar deemed a success Twenty eight people representing 13 businesses in lone, lexingion and Heppner attended the "D ealing with People It Does Make A Difference" seminar last week Jointly sponsored by Heppner Chamber and the BM C C Small Business Development Center, the seminar was open to all employers, managers, and everyone who deal* w ith people on a day to day basis The evening kicked o il with sharing o f both a negative and positive customer interaction by all par ticipants Reactions varied from positives o f friendliness and w ill ingness of clerks to go that extra step to the pain o f being totally inv tsible as customers stand at a counter Attendees enjoyed the video If Looks Could K ill*, a humorous mystery dealing with a body pulled from a lake (Revealing anymore than that would spoil it for future viewings ) Groups were formed to brainstorm problems and solutions, w hich were later shared w ith all pre sent Resource m aterials were distributed Fvaluaiions on the two and one half hour session were very positive w ith such comments as "meetings like this, bring business people together to share concerns." M rs Betty Rietmann presented a slide show o f Beatrix Potter's home in England Mrs Rietmann had taken the slides last summer while on a trip to England The first grade is studying Beatrix Potter s life and reading her books. Where the W ild Things Are. by Sendak was given the grand p ri/c award fo r the most enthusiastic par ticipation in the National Library Book Week Program This is the door decorated by Pam Minster. Semaphores (visual signing), 3.
