I9K8 lone Jr. high boys undefeated / ù f 3n,k ^ l »— * _ + * * + South Morrow County Ministerial Association by Father Tony BuHman JESUS IS TH E O N L Y W A Y If you and I wish lo receive Jesus Christ as our Savior we must realize that there is a condition to coming to Him Jesus said "T a k e my yoke upon you. and leam fn»m me " (Matthew 11 28) When Jesus -.peaks tnesc words He is using a (arming picture in which two animal* (usually o\cn) were yoked together for the purpose o f some task such as plowing a field The yoke would consist o f a wooden frame which held the two animals together and kept them moving in the same direction If then, we are to cook to Jesus we must he willing from now onward* to go with Him This is essen tial in all true conversions Conversion involve* a change o f direction In stead o f going my own way and doing my own thing I turn around and start going with Jesus Chnst But unless I am willing to let Him guide and direct my life as He wants, I cannot know the peace and rest that he offers The reason is simple It is Jesus who gives me peace It is Jesus who gives me rest not religion. not trying hard Only Jesus can do that If I am to know His rest in my heart and His direction in my life therefore, I must come to Him and go with Him He must have control and authority in my life "T a k e my yoke upon you and learn from m e " and if that seems to costly, remember that His yoke is easy and His burden light He will give us a degree o f freedom that we can find nowhere else A freedom to live the best possible life that God has planned for us Jesus first o f all invites us to come He says "C o m e to me all who labor and arc heavy laden and I will give you rest, but the condition is take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and low ly in heart and the result o f your coming is " Y o u w ill find rest for your soul for my yoke is easy and my burden is lig h t." M im e visits lone school with Artist in Education program Craig McIntosh lone school, kindergarten through sixth grades were recently treated to an Artist in Education Program sponsored by the Eastern Oregon Regional Art* Council Two-thirds o f the cost is paid by the school and VS by the Arts Council Craig McIntosh. Boardman. was the artist and his specialty is mime, acting and impmvisational activities Craig spent two weeks with the children doing improvisalional ac tivities. teaching the children to work together and interact in a creative way He worked with the children every day, si* sessions a day for two weeks The end result was five pieces o f original work and one he chose for the kids to perform at the end o f the two week period F our teen actors and actresses were chosen from the fourth, fifth and sixth grades to participate The Arty Council sponsors pro grams from several different areas, such as sculpting, painting, mime and others for children in outlying areas to benefit from The programs are varied each year so they avoid repetition The council serves ten counties in Eastern Oregon Craig's wife. Debra, works for the Educational Service District Her name may be familiar to people here, as she was the Morrow Coun ty Psychologist two years ago Craig is a "house husband" which enables him to participate in this pro gram He says "h e enjoys working with the children and watching their creativity at work " Jocelyn and Mark Jones o f lone were hi* h*>st family for the two weeks Suzanne Jepsen recently resign cd from the Heppner Senior Citizens Board o f Directors She was the last original member o f the hoard hav ing served approximately eight yean plus serving as treasurer At the February 17 board meeting.
