to salve the ego of the writer.
I don't know how this one will

I'm afraid.
What I do hope to do though, is
touch upon some of (he political and
social issues of (he County, maybe some that have been untouchable
In so doing. I hope lo inform, persuade, counsel and sometimes be fun­
ny. Most importantly. I hope this experience will be rewarding for you
as well as for me.
You’ll detect some themes as we go along First. I don’t think we are
so big and important that we can squander our energy fighting amongst
ourselves You'll find me conciliatory on issues that might divide the
county.
Secondly, I do think we arc big and strong enough to fight for a place
in the big picture, so you'll find me belligerent toward Salem, Washington
D C., and even, sometimes, toward the rest of Eastern Oregon
I like people and I'll write about them. You may even see my by-line
elsewhere in these pages, if I write good enough, maybe even a photo
or two someday

She was bom in Hamilton. Mont ,
on Feb 13. 1906
She moved to Oregon in 1939, liv­
ing at Echo for a year before mov­
ing to Heppner where she had res id

On Oct. 12. 1950, she married
Lloyd A. Moyer at Wmnemucca,
Nev. Moyer died in 1977
She was a member of the Degree
of Honor and St Patrick Catholic
Church in Heppner
Survivors include soncs, Don
Greenup of Heppner and Clarence
Greenup of Portland; there are 14
grandchildren and 34 g re a t­
grandchildren Sons George and
Everett Greenup died earlier.

Mr Cox. 63. a résident of Ixx-
ington. died Thursday, November
12. in Heppner
He was horn May 5, 1924 m
Heppner, the son of Elbert and I.O.
(Hawks) Cox. He served with the
U S. Navy dunng World War II and
was honorably discharged in 1945.
He then served with the U S Army
and was honorably discharged in
1949
He was a member of the American
legion. Heppocr BPOE #358 and
past member of the Lexington
Grange He was store manager for
21 years for the Morrow County
Grain Growers
He was mumed to Maxine Huston
on Oct. 2. 1947, at McCord Air
Force Base in Washington
He is survived by his wife Max­
ine. of Lexington, daughter Karen
Gavin of Klamath Falls, sons Nalbm
Cox, of New London, Conn and
Richard Cox, of Lexington, and six
grandchildren
