A lovely decorated cake was enjoyed with coffee For those of us who did not recognize his picture. Ed had a happy birthday photo in the East Oregonian, under the heading "Happy Birthday". • Holly Rrbckah bxige entertain ed the President of the Rehckah Assembly at their hall on Tuesday evening A delicious dinner was served after which Karla Davison gave a short talk on her trip to the United Nations and told of (lie many courtesies shown the bus of young people as they traveled across the U S. They were welcomed into many homes for dinners, overnight lodging, etc They greatly enjoyed the educational aspects in New York and Washington D C Following this, the group met for the regular session with the NG Annctta Padhcrg in the chair Introduced at this time were Mina Fish, the Mar shall of the Rehekah Assembly of Oregon, who introduced Mabel Montgomery, the Assembly Presi dent, and Leila Palmer, the DDPof Holly. Gifts were presented to the ladies at this time The President gave the ladies many fine pointers about the lodge and its work and the need for new members The re- obligation was held with Joyce Buchanan taking the purl of the V G. Refreshments were served later in the dining room The tables were decorated with lighted candles, and decorated with fall flowers There were Teddy bears around the room and posters, showing the President's program Several of Holly members motored to lone on Friday where they attended the District meeting there with Bunch grass serving as hostess A lovely day was enjoyed by all. -:-Word was received by the Rebekahs in Morrow County of the death of a former Assembly Presi dent. Anna LaKamp of Baker Ser vices were held Monday in Baker - -Earl Paptneau is a patient in the hospital in Pendleton where he underwent major surgery • Hilda and Joe Yocom were din ner guests of Iceland and Mane Junes in Pendleton on Sunday to help celebrate Nikki Jones second birthday. - -The Blue Mountain Fiddler Concert held at the Lexington Grange Hall on Saturday. Oct 24. was well attended A stew supper was also served at this time The grange appreciated the attendance on this yearly occasion when the Fid dlers have the last yearly concert at this hall Many of the group come with their campers and spend the weekend --Jean Nelson has retumedhome from a visit with her daughter Kristin, and a trip to the Washington coast area. - -Carl Smouse. Hermiston, has been spending a few days with his parents Frances and Ken Smouse - -Sarah Simonson, mother of Joyce Buchanan and Joyce's daughter. Kathleen Reilly, were weekend visitors at the Duchanan home They attended the Blue Mountain Fiddler's contest - Pat Wnght returned home Sun day from Portland, where she visited Mr and Mrs Whitmore Wright Mr Wnght had surgery to repair a broken hip at the Veteran's Hospital The Wnghts are former Heppner residents - Betty and Jana Marquardt. Sheree and Bob Smith and children and C'arlila and Jim Bioodsworth and family all went to Seattle to visit son and brother in-law Clay Grace Clay came from his home in Hawaii for a few days to visit his grandmother who is ill .Sunday night they all went to Tahola. Washington to spend the night with their son and brother Jim Marquardt Heppner Hotline By Joyce Breeding Mr and Mrs Harold Wright recently returned from an 8-day visit to Nashville, Tennessee Mary’s brother and his wife Hugh and June Jackson from Sherwood. Oregon met them at the airport in Nashville The Jackson’s drove to Tennessee in their camper. While there, they visited several shows and saw a tap ing of the Hce Haw show They visited Dolly Wood at Pidgcon For- dge and saw Dolly Parton taping a Christmas special They also went to the Grand Ole Opry While there they sisitcd President Jackson's Her mitage where everything was "beautiful" and the original fur nishings the President used arc still csident Pesidcnt and Mrs Jackson are buried on the grounds They also went on a tour of the Cumberland Riser on the General Jackson pad dle boat, saw Twitty City, and reported having a very nice time The scenery was beautiful with all (he tall colors in attendance.
