Im gon. earned a Reserve Championship in the contest Earning blue ribbons were: Lin da Morter. Brandi Ball, and Nancy Morter o f lone and Mikka Evans o f Irrigon. Blue award presentations were given by Shanna Evans. Swayne Evans and Gibb Evans o f Irngon The following local 4 H ers earn ed blue awards in the Sute fashion revue Nance Wright. Heppner. Tim Baker A missionary working as an agricultural economist in Zaire. Africa, Baker’s specific assignment is to develop a model farm at the United Methodist Church farm near Kamina, Zaire, in con sultation with the Agricultural Com mittee o f the Conference Baker was selfemploycd as a computer consul tant in North Bend, hut had lived and worked on a farm for many years He explained. "L a ck of money was always a problem on our (family) farm, so I have become pretty creative when it comes to getting things done." He is proficient in a number o f disparate skills, including flying, carpentry, welding, and machine maintenance " He studied computer science at Southwestern Oregon Community College earning a bachelor's degree in agricultural and resource economics from Oregon Slate University Upon graduation, he worked as an ad m im strator for an agricultural chemicals concern Baker is a member o f the North Bend United Methodist Church in the Oregon Idaho Annual Conference o f ihe United Methodist Church The Rev IX>n Boyce o f the Hcpp ner United Methodist Church ex plained, "W e are very excited about Tim Baker visiting with us As a church we have supported Tim with our gifts and prayers because o f his agricultural work This w ill be our first time to visit with him in person and we are very thrilled about this opportunity."
