W illows 4. and Lexington 14 Garden club to plant memorial tree By Justine Weatherford Thursday evening July lb . fitteen members and two guests attended the July meeting o f the Heppner Garden Club in the home o f Bill and Jane Rawlins After a potluck salad supper the meeting was conducted by President Martha Doherty who welcomed guests Dus Ally n and Dorothy Bur cham of the Lexington Garden Club Allvn is chairman for the county fair flower show She told about plans for the coming fair and asked everyone to save clear glass salad dressing botiles to he used in the hor ticulture exhibits. The club w ill be planting a tree, probably a Hawthorn, in Hager Park in memory o f Bob Lowe. An engraved memorial plate w ill be placed near it. Members reviewed their schedules for watering the plantings downtown and at the hospital W ilbur Jackson and Bill Rawlins are moving the bar rcls from the hospital to the downtown mini park beside the post office and arc planting them with cannas and mangolds Plans were made to do a low plan ting around the new sign at the County Museum and Heppner Library. Club membes are making plans for the Dtstncl 10 fall meeting which w ill be held in Heppner'* St Patrick's Church on Saturday. Sept 29 Committees were appointed Members w ill be involved with next month's county fair, with the rodeo parade and with other annual projects Their next monthly meeting on the third Thursday in August w ill be held at the fairgrounds.
