Reasons for levy defeat unclear
Traveling and working at newspapers in both ends of Mor
row County usually gives me a good opportunity when con
troversy arises, to find out what's on people’s minds
Not so with the recent multiple defeats of the county school
levies.
It's not that people aren't talking, they certainly are It just
seems that there is no concensus, or common complaint about
what the problem is
One person says money is the issue, one says attitude o f the
district is the problem, one says a particular policy o f a par
ticular teacher in a certain school is the reason for their no vote,
and the list goes on and on.
With a M f voter turnout in the last budget election, and
over 2,400 people casting votes, the interest is there on this
very critical issue of school financing.
To help clear the air on what problems the district is facing,
and to gain a clearer picture of where the voters stand, we are
including^! this editorial a coupon for you to clip, fill out and
return (prcasc use 40 words or less).
Just check the appropriate box. whether you voted for or
against the last school budget levies, and fill in your reasons
for doing so All replies (except those which are libelous or
personal attacks) will be printed in the September 3 issue of
the Ga/cite Times, and the September 4 issue of the Board
man Enterprise.
