Irvin, now deceased Mis son Hill and wife. Annette, presently live on the home place While living all her younger years at the fam ily ranch. Eva attended the Social Ridge grade school by riding there on a mule each day She attended Lexington High School by riding a horse for the first two years, boarding in Lexington one year, and when Eva becam e a senior, the d istrict procured a bus and she becam e both student and bus driver Following her local schooling. Eva went to college at Monmouth, and returned to teach school out of lone In 192». she met and m arried J J G riffith, who had com e to this area from Salem for construction work J J and Eva took up farm ing near Spray, and all of the seven children born to this union attended a country school in the Kahler Basin and later went to school in Spray Her husband passed aw ay in 1957 her y oungest son, Mac. an ardent n d e r of rough stock in rodeos, who once participated at Madison Square G ardens, was killed in 1964, and a daughter. Eaye. died in 1970 E v a's daughters a re Bev Denney and Sue Robinson of H erm iston. Rene ledhetter of Heppner. and Shirley Cunningham of Steven ville. Montana A son. Don G riffith, still resides at Spray The royalty tradition was handed down to daughter. Bev, who served on the Spray Rodeo Court, as well as her granddaughter. Donita Adams, who was queen of the Spray Rode Eva has 23 grandchildren and is presently aw aiting the 24th g reat grandchild After the present Heppner High School was built. Eva served as cook for nine years and enjoyed the association with youth of the com m unity Besides being active in thé Morrow County F air. Eva enjoys bowling her host of friends in the com m unity, and alw ays looks forw ard to gatherings with any num ber of her large fam ily E va depicts a comm unity minded individual who continues to give of herself during retirem ent years
