The Heppner Mustangs record fell
to I 1 last Saturday as they lost to the
Scio Loggers in a pre season contest
Scto. the class A champs two years
ago looked impressive in the first
two innings, taking a three nothing
lead, thanks to a couple of errors and
walks Hut the Mustangs scored
three runs of their own in the bottom
half of the second
Rick Riehl led off the inning with a
walk, followed by brother Robs
single Travis Hyatt lined a single to
right field to score Rick Follow mg a
wild pitch that scored Hob Riehl
Hyatt scored on a RBI ground out by
Joe Taylor
Heppner followed that inning with
three more runs in the third Singles
by Ron Doherty and Troy Hyatt
started the rally, followed by a
throwing error on the third baseman
and a walk by Rob Riehl Travis
Hyatt collected his second hit ot the
game and his third RBI to give
Heppner the lead 6 3
But that lead wasn't soon to hold
as Scio registered two runs in the
fifth and seven runs, imost of them
unearned > to give the loggers a
comfortable win
Errors was the major problem of
the Mustangs as they committed
eight in the game Pitcher Jim
McConnell allowed only five hits in
the game striking out seven and
