Ixtacihautl and Popocatepetl were sharply visible, we went northeast of the city toTeotihaucan 'house of the («mis a remarkable group of historic pv i .muds and temples I climbed [»art wav up the great fry ramid of the Sun which covers more than 10 acres Keturmng to the city we stopped at the shrines and liasillica of i lur I — ids of (iuadeloupe where masses of people attend servo o .’I hours of every day Then alter a quick luncheon at our hotel we look a tour of Mexico < ity p.ut of which is torn up because of the extension of its subway system We marveled at the magnificent cathedral and the I- literal Palace the . entral government building with the spii laculor Ihego Kivera murals We saw where more ancient ruins are la-ing cleared from under layers of later usage We stopped at the public flower market and at many punts of interest to picture snappers We saw the palatial homes of the very wealthy and became part of the tremendous traffic moving along the 12 lane avenues The next morning Tuesday we departed from the Federal District and drove southeastern!* I" the mountain city of Puebla where we walked through a very crowded marketplace near the city center and cathedral, visited the all golden Chapel ol the Virgin of the Kosarv shopped at a tile and pottery sholesale house and in an ony x factory and lunched in a modern, new hotel That afternoon we continued to the Southeast through agricultural and forested regions and descended over many hairpin turns from the great plateau Tixsi plus feel high to the costal area along the <>ulf of Mexico, reaching our beachfron hotel at Veracruir in time for another late evening dinner Next column I shall tell you ol our seeing Veracruir Vlllahermosa and Merida and the signifuant historic sights near these fine cities From left D uane B a ll, A n d re a Bv M il I I \ K il l Twelve member» of the Heppner t'hapter FFA attendili the Blue Mountain leadership skills Contest at Blue Mountain Community Col lege on Wednesday February 13 Alex landsay placed second in the extemporaneous speaking contest, Duane Ball placed second in the creed »|>eaking contest and Andrea Ball placed third in the prepared puhlid speaking contest The Hep B a ll, an d A le x Lindsay ter parlimentary procedure team consisted ol Alex landsay.
