I9h6 >K \ KN ŸÂJvrÆ iïffa/rÆ UfJZM ût CALL: 676 9228 - Livestock producers rewarded for time at animal program Hy STEAK C A M P B E L L M o rro w ( ounlv E x te n sio n Agent The Oregon Stale University E * tension Service and the Morrow County Livestock Growers Associa lion cooperated on a Livestock Health program Wednesday, Jan uary 23, 1*5 Dr Nordan Stefanides of the Hermiston Veterinary Clinic was the featured speaker and spent one and one half hours presenting information he had prepared and in answering questions posed by indi vidual producers Thirty-one Mor row County livestock producers were in attendance at the meeting and were well rewarded for their time Dwight Hailey, president of the Morrow County Livestock Grow ers, conducted the meeting The prim ary topic of discussion was tricomoniasis. a livestock ven ereal disease that causes first tri mester abortions, and in some rases sterility, in cows It is an old established disease that hasn't been a problem locally for many years That changer! this fall when several local herds were diagnosed with tricomoniasis or were exposed to herds that were diagnosed as having tricomoniasis Additionally, Dr Stefanides dts cussed other livestock health prob lems of a more common nature and the associated health care practices that producers need to implement to aviod them Specifically, he discus sed the options for insecticide ear tags, internal and external parasite control, growth implants for calves, heifers, and steers, and health prob lems associated with turnip pas tures The costs of various drugs that are available were covered as were the timing for innoculations and treatment of common diseases In addition to cattle health prob lems certain sheep problems were discussed Foot vax and Ivomectin were covered and the costs verses the benefits of each compared Selected drugs and treatment sche dules for sheep diseases and disor ders were the final topics of the evening School Lunch Menus l i r p p n r r H ig h School Monday, Keb 4Cheeseburgers, French fries, fruit, cookie, and milk Tuesday, Feb 5-enchiladas, green beans, salad, mixed fruit and m ilk, or salad bar and milk Wednesday, Feb 6 macaroni and cheese, choice of vegetable, rolls, peaches, and m ilk, or salad bar and milk I lr p p n r r F l r m r n l a r y School Friday.
