The Vikings beat the Fillies by only two points on their own court. Here’s hoping that the young ladies of coach Mike Koyer (and the following boys game, for that m atter) are greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at their big game Both aspects have been noticeably absent at Meppner games this year that is the enthusiasm and the crowd While the girls have skillfully built their fine 9-2 record, and as the boys have struggled to put the parts together, they have done so in virtual privacy. Many of you have probably not seen this year’s girls team, but the following proposition is a safe bet: if they don't get you excited about basketball, then nothing probably will They are a hustling, aggressive collection of overacheivers, w ho have set their sights on a league title and an appearance in the State tournament. This week's game against a very talented I ’matilla squad is a m ajor obstacle toward that goal Very seldom do you get to see the No. 1 team in the State, but even more seldom is it that you have a realistic shot at beating them. Such is the case. It would lx* fitting if the fans would truly give Meppner the old home-court advantage this weekend We all take pride in saying “yeah for our team, they’re champs ” This week your participation can help make that feeling a reality.
