she moved in 1935
On January 23. 1945 Mrs Horn

son. Wash They lived in Newport
for 14 years and then returned to
Portland in 1964
Survivors include her husband
Bussell a daughter. Sandra K
Holtz of lone, a brother, Clarence
Miller of Portland and four grand
children

Mrs Howell was born Nov 15.
1900 in Pendleton to Alvis and Rose
Porter McCarty She attended
school in Pendleton and in Hard
man where she later moved In
1939 she moved to Heppner
l)n March 6. 1920 she married
Ptrl L. Howell in Heppner He
preceded her in death in 1976
Mrs Howell was a member of
the Neighbors of Woodcraft. St
Patrick's Catholic Church and the
Alter Society oi.Rtat church
She is survived by two dough
ters. Nona Grace of Heppner and
Sylvia Gorger of Heppner, two
brothers, Tom McCarty of Pendle
ton and Forrest McCarty of Esta
cada and four grandchildren A
daughter. Wanda Boland preceded
her in death in 1979

38 years, first teaching in the

Society For over 30 years she was
church organist and head of the
choir
She was a member of the Retired
Teachers Association and the St

Jack Glavey. Heppner. and several
cousins in The Dalles area
