By ASHLEY CONKLIN Under the lights, the lone boys track team finished third with M points at the Wasco County Invitational twilight meet, Friday, April 27 at Wahtonka. The girls team finished tied for 14th with three points. Throwing the discus 130' 2W" placing first, Randy McCabe set a new meet re cord. He high jumped six feet for third and pole vaulted 11 feet for third. Distance runner Mike Douglas broke his own school record in the 3,000 meters running 9:35.7, placing sec ond. Me also ran the 1,500 meteres in 4:36.0. Thrower Deena Hams set a new school record in the discus at 88' 10", placing sixth. She was fifth in the javelin at 105' 5'V Craig Hams long jumped 20' 9'i" for second, and triple Jumped 39' 114" for fourth. He sprinted the 100 meters in : 11.80, for fourth, and the 200 meters In :24.5, for fifth. Donnie Doherty heaved the shot 43' 3" for second. Scott Barnett hurled the discus 111' 5'V and the Jave lin 123' 8". At 100 meters Chris Rea was timed in : 12 8. He hurdled the Heppner High competes at Hermiston rodeo Ttie Heppner High School Rodeo Team competed at the Columbia Basin high school rodeo at Hermiston April 28 and 29. Team trophies were awarded to Redmond with 11 points and Heppner with 79'? points according to a spokes person for the rodeo club. Heppner Team All Around Cowgirl was Trisha Mahoney, All Around Cowboy was Ron Hall. Trisha Mahoney placed second in Cow Cutting, third in Team Roping with Shannon Van Dorn, fourth in Pole Bending, sixth in Breakaway Roping and sixth in Goat Tying. Andrea Ball placed fourth in Barrels. Pat Schwarz placed first in Steer Wrestling and seventh in calf roping. Shawn Britt placed seventh in the Barrel Race. Christ's Center of Junction City won with 71 points. The Cove girls took that team title, while the lone girls had 11 points, Leading the boys were Craig Hams and Randy McCabe. Hams won the long jump at 21' 4 V, and won the triple jump at 41' 3'", a new school record. He ran for third in the 200 meters, :24.3 and ran the 100 meters in : 1 1 .7. McCabe won the pole vault at 10' 9". He tossed the discus 121' 10" for third, high jumped Steve Currin placed first in Calf Roping and fifth in Team Roping. The Heppner team also competed at the Morrow County High School Rodeo at Tatone's arena in Boardman April 27 and 28. Heppner Team winners were: Steve Currin sixth in calf roping; eighth, steer wrestl ing; Steven Currin and Brenda Youtsey first in Team roping; Trisha Mahoney sixth in Barrels; seventh in cow cut ting and ninth in Breakaway roping. Hank Vazza first in Cow cutting: First place team trophy was awarded to Umatilla and second place to Redmond. Legion sets meeting Heppner and lone American Legion Posts and Auxiliaries will hold a joint meeting Mon day, May 7, at 7 p.m. at the Heppner Legion hall. It will be a family potluck with meet ings to follow said a spokes person for the Legion. Wranglers set summer series The Morrow Co. Wranglers will be holding a series of summer playdays at the Wranglers grounds at 6 p.m. on Friday Evenings for six consecutive weeks reports Mary Ann Munkers, secretary for the Wranglers. Dates are May 11, 18, 25, June 1, 8, 15. Cardinal Club meets May 10 The lone Cardinal Club will meet on Thursday, May 10, 1984, at 8 p.m. in the school cafeteria. This meet is the final meet before District 7-A Track Meet. Department of Oregon American Legion Auxiliary President, Lorraine Jones, will make her visitation at this meeting. Plans for Poppy Days and Lions Club dinner will be discussed. An entry fee of 50 cents per event will be charged. There will be 3 events: Barrels, Poles, and an op tional event. Rosette ribbon through 4 places and a high point trophy will be given out at each playday.
