Worth, Texas April 29, 1984. He was born February 6, 1923 at Madras, Oregon, the som of William and Delia (Nichols) Edmondson. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Survivors include his moth er, Delia Tash of Heppner; daughters Janice Wigley and Sherri Rupard both of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Melissa Nichols of Washing ton; brothers Jack Edmond son of Portland and Dick Edmondson of Sacramento, California; and two grand children. Funeral services are sch eduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at Sweeney Mortuary Cahp el, Heppner. Concluding ser vices and interment will be at the Heppner Masonic Ceme tery. Sweeney Mortuary Chapel, Heppner, is in charge of ar rangements. Kate Daly Kate Daly, 93, Pendleton, died Tuesday, April 17, 1984, at her home in Pendleton. She was born February 11, 1891 at Templemoyle, County Donegal Ireland, the daughter of Denis and Agnes McDevitt. She was married to James Daly on November 11, 1919 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pendleton. The couple lived in Morrow County until I960 when she move to Pendleton. Her husband died earlier. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Pen dleton. Survivors include a son, Charles J. Daly, Heppner; daughters, Mrs. William J. (Mary) Doherty, and Patricia Boyd, both of Pendleton, and Kathlene Healy, Heppner; there are 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Up Births Jodie Marie Carlson a daughter, Jodie Marie, was born to Kathy and Phil Carl son of Heppner, April 23, 1984 at Pendleton Community Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs. 2l oz. Grandparents are Lyle and Josie Morton of Pendleton and Louis and Betty Carlson of lone. Great-grandparents are Ella Black of Pendleton and Dorris Graves of Heppner. Megan Faje Healy - A girl, Megan Faye was born to Faith and John Healy of Heppner, April 24 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. She wieghed 5 lbs. 12 oz. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Tony Seitz and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Healy, all of Hep pner. Great-grandparents are Ida Coleman of Heppner and Helen Osborn of Burns. Brett Erin Barber - a girl, Brett Erin was born to Judith and Donald Barber of Hep pner. April 22, 1984 at Pendle ton Community Hospital. She weighed 71bs., 8 ozs. Two men who were arraign ed for two counts of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree were sentenced In Circuit Court reports Morrow County District Attorney, Richard McNerney. Salvador Farrias and Adan Farrias, both of Irrigon, were sentenced to three years each of two counts to the Oregon State Corrections Facility. The sentences are to run concurrently. The imposition of the Cor rectional Facility time is suspended on the condition that the defendants success fully complete five years of probation with the following special conditions: a) Six months in the Umatilla County Jail, with no credit for time served, b) To reimburse the State of Oregon for Court Appointed Attorney fees in the amont of $497, said money to be paid to the Morrow County Circuit Court Clerk in Hep pner, c) That the Defendant is not to associate with any female under the age of 18 years, d) The defendant is to obide by all the general terms, and conditions of probation. All of the sentence is to be superceded if the United States enters a valid deporta tion order against the two defendants. AAUW scholarship available Application forms are still available for the American Association of University Women scholarship for a Mor row County woman seeking to further her education. The scholarship of $300 is offered for the 1984-85 school year. To obtain an application form, call, the Rev. Cathy Baker at 422-7530 in lone. The completed forms must be returned to her by May 9. Recitation of the rosary was 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21 at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Pen dleton. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, April 22 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pendleton with burial follow ing at Olney Cemetery, Pen dleton. Baby shower slated A baby shower in honor of Jodie Marie Carlson, the new daughter of Phil and Kathy Carlson, will be given on Friday, May 11, at 7:30p.m. It will be held at the lone United Church of Christ. Lance Lavlin. The bride wore a white two piece suit with pink accessories. She carried a cream colored lace and satin fan with a bouquet of pink and white roses and baby's breath. Brides maids were the brides granddaughters, Christy Bourrie and Donna Ball of Heppner. Ms. Borrie wore a light blue dress belted at her waist and Ms. Ball wore a turquoise dress with a white lace jacket. They each carried a single pink rose. George Bradley, Seattle, son of the bride, was best man. Yvonne Bradley, Seattle, daughter-in-law of the bride served cake while Doreen Richardson, the groom's neighbor and friend, poured champagen. Other guests included the brides grandsons-in-law, Wayner Bourrie and Ceary Ball, both of Heppner. The couple are making their home in Hines. Marketing alternative for farmers Darl Kelinbach who farms with her husband Harold, 15 miles south of Arlington at Olex is making sure that Oregon and Pacific Northwest wheat farmers are educated about the white wheat com modity future market states a news release from the Oregon Wheat Foundations, Inc She has organized a white wheat futures seminar de signed to "not only educate farmers, but to tell them why they should be aware of the marketing alternatives that the futures market gives them." The seminar will be pre sented in Pendleton on May 24 at the Red Lion-Indian Hills Motor Inn. It will start at 8:30 a.m. for registration with the main program to start at 9:15. There will be a harge of $35 for the first family person and $15 for additional family mem bers. "The purpose of the seminar is to explain to the wheat growers and other business persons "why?" do we want a futures market, Kelinbach said. The Morrow County Sher iff's Department office at tlie Morrow County Courthouse in Heppner handled the following calls, cases and reports during the past week: April 23, the Morrow County Sheriff's Office, Boardman Ambulance, Boardman Fire Department and Rescue I responded to an accident at 1-84 and 730 junction. One semi truck was involved and a female, 46, name unknow, was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Herm ston. April 24, the Heppner Fire Department responded to a house fire at the Dave Eck man residence. A wall and kitchen cabinet caught on fire. The fire was reportedly caused by a piece of toast which was stuck in the toaster. Also on April 24, a Board man ambulance responded to a call at 115 N.W. Boardman Avenue. One male subject was transported to Good Shepherd Community Hospital. The patient was reported to be having touble moving and to be in a lot of pain. April 26, Boardman ambu lance transported one female to Good Shepherd Community Hospital from a Boardman residence. April 27, Boardman ambu lance responded to Gourmet Foods, Boardman, and trans ported a 24 year old white male to Good Shepherd Com munity Hospital. April 29, Morrow County Sheriff's Office received a report of a one-vehicle roll over on 1-84 at milepost 171. The Oregon State Police de partment in Hermiston is investigating. Also on April 29, a Board man ambulance transported one male and one female to Good Shepherd Community Kuspital in Hermiston. Both were allegedly involved in the , accident on 1-84. In a third April 29 incident, a Morrow County Sheriff's De partment officer arrested Garcilazo Candelario, 35, of Irrigon for Interferance with police. He was lodged at Umatilla City Jail with bail set at $2,500. He posted bail and was released. In a fourth April 29 incident, the Morrow County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle accident on 4th St. West and Old Highway in Irrigon. Teddie W. Hayes, age 63, Wishram, Washington, was cited for Open Container to wit: beer and cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way. Driver of the other vehicle was Sambal A. Hanuel, age 27. Justice Court Report The Morrow County Justice Court at the Morrow County Courthouse in Heppner handl ed the following cases during the past week : Crystal Kae Papineau, Lexington - Leaking, Sifting Load, $15 fine. Cesario Chaires, Boardman, No Operator's License, $13 fine. James Clarence Benson, Heppner, Excessive Noise, $31 fine. 4-H Clubs Buttercreek Livestock By Jennifer Currin On April 18 Buttercreek Livestok 4-H Club met at Mr. and Mrs. Harry Geer's home. Beth Heatherly opened the meeting and members discus sed old and new business. In new business, Janell Bailey told that there will be movies at the Heppner Jr. High. Nany Bailey gave a report on "Hog Health." Club members worked on the club scrapbook and then worked on banners for fair. The next meeting will be at Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Ashbeck's home on May 16. Semper Seam era By Kathy Martin and Giselle Schoonover The Souper Seamers 4-H club met on Tuesday April 24 at the 4-H Extension office. Club members plan on going to Pendleton to buy fahric on Saturday May 5. The next club meeting will be May 8. Hospital Notes Correction Last week's Gazette-Times carried a picture of Dick and Lorna Borman which announ ced their 50th wedding anni versary celebration. Friends might have difficulty finding the Christian Church, how ever, if they followed the address given in the story. The correct address is 1115 S. Fifth Avenue, Yakima, Washington. April 30. 1959 Raymond Lundell of lone was named Morrow County Conservation Man of the Year at a Wheat League meeting Tuesday, April 28. Morrow County School Board discussed a contract dispute with Superintendent Jack Flug and a proposed teacher's salary raise. SO Yean Ago Thursday. May 3. 1931 The 34 piece Heppner School Band directed by Harold W. Buhman presented an annual concert in new uniforms and "played itself deeply into the hearts of a large appreciative audience." The "successful" band had started from scratch just two years earlier. The annual May fete was considered well attended in all avents. Awards were present ed for academic performan ces and a band performance was accompanied with trad itional maypole dancing. "A fire of undertermined origin completely gutted the two-room dwelling of Tom Johnson at the rear of the Mahrt Electric shop on Main Street about 4 o'clock Monday morning." Fire Chief Mark Merrill and R B. Ferguson were the first to arrive with the fire truck and put the fire out before it damaged ad jacent property. Johnson's furniture and belongings were a total loss. Members spent four days digging plants and potting them for the sale.
