Urging a 'yes vote on
county school budget
You won't find any "surprises" in the
1934-85 Morrow County School budget; you
wUIbesked to approve it in next Tuesday's
election. What you will find is a sound budget,
devoted to giving our children a good
education.
The budget committee and administrators
have worked hard to come up with a budget
that will provide for the quality education we
all want for our students in Morrow County.
During its deliberations, the committee has
eliminated and cut funds, consequently pre
senting you, the voter, with a sound financial
package we all can live with. Any further cuts
would impair the educational quality of the
- school system in our county.
We urge you to vote next Tuesday and
-vote "yes" for the school budget.

update
Dug Dugger, public affairs
officer for the VS. Army
Corps of Engineers, Walla
Walla District, has reported
that Willow Creek lake has
been filled to an elevation of
2,039 ft. instead of 2,063 as he
reported last week.
Dugger explained that some
landscaping is being done
belcw the dam and near the
Alfalfa St. Bridge and fiii
material was needed for the
project. If the lake level was
at the higher elevation, the
soil would be covered, with
water.
The corps does expect to

when the landscaping is com

Our children and youth are
our most important product!
Not only our own, but every

major factors in a child's life
during his or her growing-up

Although it is very difficult to
always be all things to all
people all the time, the school

to do their very best for our

developed once the need was
identified. While this program
is still in the beginning stages
of development. Morrow
County is far ahead of other
districts (many with more
resources ir. personnel and

This is just one example of
the many ways that the school

the lowest possible cost.
Please support these efforts.

Vote for 'Hands on' experience
To the editor:
My name is Eugene Hawes
and I am a student at Blue
Mountain Community College.
My home town i Hereford,
Oregon and I am 19 years old.
This is my second year at Blue
Mountain majoring in Agri
culture Production.
I chose BMCC because it is
the only community college in
Oregon that offers all three
technological areas of agricul
ture (production, business and
mechanics).
Other reasons for attending
BMCC are that it is close to
home, the campus is smaller
and gives students a chance to
build a closer working rela
tionship with the instructors.
BMCC has many advantages
To the editor:
I am writing this letter in
regard to the March 27th
election in w hich the budget of
BMCC win be decided.
I am a freshman at BMCC
this year and am majoring in
accounting. While here, I've
found going to a small com
munity college has many ad
vantages. One such advantage
is small classrooms and more
individual attention to the stu
dents by the instructors. This
helps a lot when you are at a
point where you just don't
understand anything. Another
great advantage is the cost.
It's very inexpensive and the
tuition is practically free be
cause of the equalization fac
Student rep. urges yes' vote
To the editor:
I, Rhonda Thompson, am
currently a student at BMCC,
majoring in science. I also am
a representative for the stu

student council has made me
more aware of the issues
involving our school.
BMCC has made it possible
for me to be able to live at
. home, in Echo, and attend a
small college which was not
such a big adjustment for me
as if I had gone to a four-year
college.
Show appreciation
To the editor:
The people of Morrow Coun

opportunity to show their ap
preciation for the excellent
educational opportunities
given their children. The Mor

again before the voters, and
while the increase is about
five percent over last year, we
still are receiving a bargain
when compared with neigh
boring districts.

The circle is unending. The diamond is the hardest
substance on earth. Together they symbolize a
strong, unending love. The favorite betrothal ring is a
single damond perched upon a delicate crown of
gold or platinum. On the day the vows are spoken
it is wedded to a simple circlet or a lace of
diamonds woven in gold.
Our romantic damond engagement

and they say it beautifully.
