A Jump Hope for Heart jump-a-thon will be held at the Heppner Junior High School gym next Tuesday, Feb. 14. The event, which Is held at many schools across the nation during February and March, will run from 4 to 7 p.m. About 120 students will par ticipate in the jump-a-thon which Is held to inform people of the need for aerobic exer cise, to strengthen the heart and cardiovascular system, and to raise funds. Seventy percent of the funds raised are used to support research, public education and community service pro grams conducted by the American Heart Association. Twenty percent of the money raised supports the Jump Hope lor Heart Program while the remaining 10 percent helps fund state programs. This year a special attrac tion has been added to the event. The Pioneer Memorial Hospital staff will conduct blood pressure and step tests to determine heart condition. The sponsors of the Jump Hope for Heart are the Ameri can Heart Association and the Oregon Alliance of Health, Physical Education and Dance. Add water, soup, vegetables, thyme and remaining 18 teaspoon garlic pow der to meatballs; stir gently. Cover and bring to a boil; re duce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Separate dough into 10 biscuits; cut each biscuit in half. Place biscuit halves on hot stew mixture. Sprinkle with paprika. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes; cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes longer. 5 to 6 servings. TIP: Three cups froien stew vegetables can be substi tuted for carrots, potatoes and onion.
