against Rockets by 4
By DANA REID
The Heppner JV Fillies
played the Pilot Rock Rockets
Friday. Jan. 13. at Pilot Rock.
After a good warm up for
the Fillies they were out on the
court ready to play. Heppner
received the tipoff to start the
game The Fillies took the ball
down court and passed it
around until they had an open
shot. Unfortunately the ball
didn't go in and the Rockets
grabbed the rebound and were
off
Good defense by the Fillies
gave them a steal and Hep
pner took the ball down court
to put it in for the first two
points of the game. Heppner
was hurting a little on re
bounds, both offensively and
defensively, but when they got
the ball it went down the court
and in for two points. The
Fillies were really hustling.
The score was close at the end
of the first quarter although
Pilot Rock was ahead, 6-10.
Heppner recieved the tipoff
to start the second quarter. A
turnover gave the ball to Pilot
Rock, but the Fillies were
back down on defense. Hep
pner was playing great de
fense, not letting the ball get
inside, forcing Pilot Rock to
take the outside shots. Hep
pner's rebounds were better
but Pilot Rock still shot twice
and sometimes three times

down the court if they missed.
Back on offense. Heppner was
playing great team ball. The
Fillies ran through their plays
looking for the open shot to put
it up for two. It was an
exciting game and the score
was tied at 15 by the end of the
second quarter.
The third quarter started
with the tipoff going to Pilot
Rock. Heppner was back down
playing great defense. The
Fillies also started to rebound
a lot better, both defensively
and offensively. Heppner was
really hustling and by the end
of the third quarter the Fillies
took the lead 24-22.
The fourth quarter started
and Heppner recieved the
lump ball. The Fillies took it
down court and all the way in
for two points. The Fillies
were playing super defense
and kept that up until the end
of the game. The Fillies start
ed to get into a little foul
trouble which gave the Roc
kets a chance for free points at
the free throw line. Heppner
didn't give up however. The
HHS girls played a super
game but the Rockets came
out on top with a score of 34-38.
"We had a slow start, but
came on pretty strong in the
third and fourth quarters. Our
offense was a little weak. I feel
that overall, the game was
okay, but not up to their
potential." said Heppner
Coach Karen Howe.
Poole, his wife. Tammy, and
daughter. Heather, presently
reside in Ellensburg, Wash,
where he pastors the Ellens
burg church and the Cle Elum
church.
Friends of the Pooles are
cordially invited to come and
renew acquaintances, said a
church spokesperson.
