David and April Hilton Sykes, Publishers LETTERS Thank you ladies I would like to express my appreciation and thanks to three neat ladies who put in so many hours and hard work in getting families to submit their stories for the history book of Morrow County. They got the Job done, and it is such a nice book. I am learning so much about Thought To the editor; After attending lots and lots of these meetings, and reading and seeing the reported stories of what happened, I can only wonder if I and the reporter were at the same meeting. To me the basic question is why? After a lot of thought, I can only conclude that a working alliance exists between those entrenched greedy public employees, who seek to further their own interests, and those who con trol what is presented as "news" in this state. Thus an uninformed public must leave public business to the "experts" who can do as they please, in secret, for the public will never know. Attemts to change the system are likewise not reported. After all, if the public really knew things could get out of hand - for the experts. The various members of the Four th Estate insist upon knowing, yet fail to inform the people. Such censorship is a direct violation of the duty and re sponsibility of the free press and the free media. It shouldn't happen in the State of Oregon, but it appears that it has.
