On Saturday. Dec. 10. the'
Heppner Fillies played the
Grant Union Prospectors at
Heppner.
After a Rood warm-up. the
Fillies came out fired up and
ready to play. Grant Union got
the tip off but Heppner was
plaving tough defense. How
ever, the Prospectors scored
the first two points. At the end
of the Trst quarter, the Pros
pectors pulled ahead of the
Fillies with a score of 12-21.
The Fillies came back the
second quarter playing both
good defense and offense. The
score was close but at the end
of the second quarter the
Prospectors still took the lead.
23-25.
The Fillies came out for the
second half of the game ready
to play. Heppner kept up their
offense but their defense
slowed down a bii. Both teams
fought until the finish but
Grant Union came out on top.
with a score of 47-61.
Dana Reid put in 10 points
and Pam Orr eight for the
Fillies. Pam Orr pulled down
nine rebounds. Stephi Payne
had three assists and Lana
Reid had five steals.
"We played good basketball
. for three quarters but ran out
of gas in the fourth," said
Heppner Coach Mike Rover.
r "Grant Union has a strong
team but I feel that we do. too.
If our defense could have
tightened up in the fourtl
quarter, we would have won.
