The program started at 7:30 and was a most interesting talk and slide show on Taiwan by Shu-Ling-Yen, an extension service specialist on an ex change program to Oregon. The talk and slides were well received with the audience asking many questions. Following the program the meeting was called to order by the Overseer. Lyle Peck. In troduced were Morton Wolver ton. Eastern Oregon State Deputy from Hermiston, and Wheatland Pamona Deputy Delpha Jones. Each of the guests spoke on the work of the grange and the coming elections in the grange, both on a state, Pamona and Subor dinate levels. Try to elect the person best suited to the posi tion and with the best qualifi cations, they said. Many issues were discussed and a resolution committee of O.W. Cutsforth, Earl Pap ineau and Glover Peck was formed to draft these and present them. A discussion was held con cerning garage sales and flea markets, and how to protect yourself from buying stolen articles at these sales. The Blue Mountain Fid dlers' Concert on Oct. 15, and the Morrow County Historical Society's annual meeting to be heid at the Lexington Grange Hall Oct. 2 were announced. There will be special music provided by Doug and Norita Marquardt, and a talk and slide show by Antone Min thorn, chairman of the Feder ated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Dancers and music are also scheduled. Pamona Grange will meet in Lexington on Saturday, Oct. 29. Friends were grieved to hear of the recent death of Zearl Gillespie at Consolidat ed Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermistons. He was the brother-in-law of Leita Mes senger. Those from Lexington attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Mes senger, Sr.; Ray Barlow from Eugene, a brother of Mrs. Messenger; Gerry and Sue Messenger from Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Mar quardt and son Phillip; Mr. and Mrs. Doug Marquardt; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bloods worth; Mr. and Mrs. Randy Hughes; Sheree Smith; Pam Piper; Debbie Miller; and Jeff Fortenberry. Mr. and Ms. Jim Bloods worth entertained at their ranch home with a birthday party and dinner honoring the three grandchildren: Kevin, Kasia, and Kent, on their birthdays. Those present were the childrens' parents, Carlita and Jim Bloodsworth, Betty Marquardt, Pam Piper, Sher rie and Bob Smith and daugh ter. Ray and Debbie Miller and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Romanda and Jessica, Mrs. Evelyn Warren and Kin and Dennis, along with the host and hostess and the hon ored guests. Mr. and" Mrs. C.C. Jones were Bend visitors on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Huber had a lovely dinner and day of visiting recently when they and their children were to gether for the first time in 10 years. Those present with their parents were: Marianne and John Brams and children Dylan and Nicole of Beaver ton; David and Pat Huber from Denver, Colo.; Gary Huber from Walla Walla. Wash.; Lucy and Roger Davis, Wena tehee. Wash. The family reports a lovely time. Pat Wright and Sandi, and Philis Piper and daughter at tended a rabbit show at Thompson Hall in Hermiston on Saturday. There were 500 rabbits in the show, and the Morrow County group came away with several honors. Kim McCabe of lone won best of breed for a French lop. Shawn Hams won best of breed for Dutch, Sandi Wright won best of breed for Jan. Sandi also is now the proud owner of a pygmy goat won in a drawing. This group of kids belongs to the Rise and Shine Rabbit Club in Boardman. Earl Papineau is home after a few days' stay in Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Robert Steagall is a patient in Pioneer Memorial Hospital, suffering from some broken bones. Dates to remember: - The Friday evening hunt ers' supper and Saturday morning breakfast at the Lex ington 1 0 O F. Hall. Even if you're not a hunter, come on out and enjoy some pancakes. - The Morrow County Histor ical Society meeting on Oct. 2 at the Lexington Grange Hall. Dinner will be at 1 p.m., followed by an interesting pro gram, music by Norita Mar quardt and brother Doug, and slides and talks on Indian culture and drummers and dancers from the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The first fall card party at the Rebekah Lodge Hall will be held on October 1 , at 8 p m Prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served. Be Ready For Winter.
