Immediately afterwards and since, the out pourings of friendship and generosity have been almost unbelievable. One story stands out in my heart and mind so much I have to bring it to your attention. There is a group of young boys who have formed "The Mustang Club." These young fellows are present at just about every ball game, in which the local team com petes. Never has one team had such loyal fans. These boys pick up bottles and cans in and around the football stadium after the games (volunteer). You may have noticed them at home games; they all wear shirts saying "Heppner Mustangs." They help hold and pass out cakes during cake raffles. Several months ago they started a newspaper which they publish about once a month, reporting such things as ball game scores (Jr. High, High School, and Little League). One issue they re ported on the progress of WiUow Creek Dam. A short whils after the fire they put out a special edition of their paper (which is called the "Blue and Gold Express"), Correction An article in last week's Gazette-Times stated that a farewell potluck dinner, honoring the Rev. Mike and Linda Sheridan, would be held Sunday, June 15. The dinner will be held Wednesday, June 15, 7 p.m., at the City Park in Heppner. which covered the fire. They run advertisements in their paper but they don't charge anything. These kids also held their own Home Coming Parade during football season com plete with floats. The day after the fire Scott Johnston and Bobby Krein came up to me, as we were moving shoes out of our store, and said, "Jerry, we want to talk to you," so I stepped aside to visit with my "little friends." They said, "We have a present for you from our club, we hope it will help you rebuild your store." They handed me a $5 bill which they had taken out of the treasury of The Mustang Gub. They also had a cold can of pop for me. We feel truly blessed to live in a community where so many wonderful people care about their fellow man, but maybe more important, where parents raise good kids to care about their community as a whole. Thank you Mustang Gub for your generosity, I will never forget it. Also thank you par ents of Mustang Club mem bers for raising children the whole community can be proud of. Sincerely, Jerry Hollomon Annual Hardman Picnic planned A horse focuses its eye by changing the angle of its head, not by changing the shape of the lens of the eye, as humans do. A Hardman Pioneer Picnic will be held Sunday, June 19, at the community hall in Hardman, announced a spokesperson for the annual event. A potluck dinner will begin at 12:30 p.m. Dancing will follow latex in the after noon, she said. Everyone is invited to attend. r In honour of the VL 1 Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thomson their children and grandchildren request the pleasure of your company at a reception on Saturday, the second of July nineteen hundred and eighty-three from two until four o'clock -Heppner Elks Club Heppner, Oregon No g&s, piew A memory album will be presented to Madge and Jim.
