April 22 as the lone track team was second out of 24 schools with 71 and one-half points. Douglas' school records came in the 1.500 and 3.000 meters in which he ran 4:35.2 and 9 55 9. placing fifth and fourth respectively. He broke his own school records in both. Winning the long jump was Craig Hams who jumped 2n'6V. Triple jumping 405" he was second and was on the fourth place 400 meter relay team of Howard Leavitt. Don Tavlor. and Mark Meyers which ran 0:47 9. On the sixth place 1.600 meter relay were Meyers. Darrin Padberg. April 16 Hep pner and Riverside High Schools met at the Willow Creek Country Club for a iwo wav golf tournament. "Scores were kept differ ently for this tournament." said a spokesperson. "Despite the tough competi tion, we had many outstanding individual efforts." said head coach Dale Conklin. "In addi tion to the school records, Heppner tracksters also had individual personal records and one meet record." Jodi Padberg collected two school records by posting times of 2:27.99 and 5:22,4 in the 800 and 1500 meters re spectively. Both marks topped efforts posted by Padberg last vear. Ironically, both were second place finishes. Sherry Clement threw the shot put 33'3" to best a mark she set earlier this season. It was a third place effort. The 1600-relay team of Tif fany Lawson. Nancy Martin. Padberg. and Pam Orr ran 4:25.8. placing second, to break the school record they set two weeks ago. This, too. was a second place effort. Payne also collected a second in the 100. Orr earned a third in the 300 meter hurdles running :50.5. Fourth place finishes in the meet were collected by Law son who ran 1:04.5 in the 400 meters; John Martin who ran 4:30.3 (a personal best) in the 1500 meters and John Moyer who jumped 38'4 V in the triple jump. The girls picked up points in the 3.000 meters as Lana Reid posted fifth and Lisa Wilson was sixth. Wesley Marlatt collected a sixth place finish in the discus with a personal best throw of 116. The Mustangs will get one more effort in this weekend before the all-important dis trict track meet. May 6-7.
