was set by Kellie Hammond in

Lana Reid won two events
bv capturing the ROO-and 1.500
meter runs. She ran a person
al best in the 800 of 2:58.1.
For a change of pace, the
8(io-meter relay was run in
stead of the usual 400 relay
and the girls' team of Tiffany
I.nwson. Jodi Padberg, Pam
Orr and Stephanie Payne
turned in a clocking of 1:54.7.
That time is better than any
time turned in last year by
Class A schools in the state of
Oregon, said Fleppner's head
coach Dale Conklin.

HHS thinclads compete against
13 teams & take 2nd place
The Heppner High School
bovs' and girls' track teams
combined their scores last
Saturday at the Sherman
County Invitational to earn a
second place trophy against 13
other schools.
"I was a little apprehensive
going into the meet that we
would do so well because of
the few number of boys we
have competing." said head
coach Dale Conklin. "But. we
had super efforts on the part of
all lot of people, including the
bovs."

153. Sherman County 149. Lyle

That trophy went to Shelley
Woodside of Wasco County
with 29 points. Payne had 28
with first place efforts in both
the 100 and 200 meters and
fourth place finishes in the
long jump and triple jump,
and event not normally held in
girls competition.
Jodi Padberg was also a
double event winner as she
earned blue ribbons in both
the ROO-and 1.500-meter runs.
She was also on the 1.600
meter relay team that set a
meet record by winning in a
time of 4:33.7. Rounding, out
the relay team were Nancy
Martin. Tiffany Lawson and
Pa m Orr. Padberg was also on
the second place 400-meter
relay team as were Janelle
McElhany. Lawson and Orr.

Tuesday at lone. The battle

darkness prevented the last
match from being played.

the 200 meters and a tie for
third at 100 meters to add to

Condon last Tuesday and Fri
day will be involved in the
Wasco County Invitational at
Wahtonka High School at The
Dalles. The meet will begin
with field events at 4 p.m.

3-6. 6-2. Troy Lindstrom
played Ivan Dike but was not
able to finish due to darkness.
Eric Pointer defeated Scott
Piper 6-0. 6-3. the third
straight win for the freshman.
