Th wood wilt be distributed to teniort who need wood fuel to heat their home Sheriffs Report The Morrow County sher iff "i office at the Morrow County Courthouse in Heppner handled the following calls and cases during the past week: On September 12. a county sheriffs deputy responded to a report of people shooting at insulators on Bonneville Power Administration poles. Clinton Winford Barker, 29. of Irrigon. and Daniel Jay Can non. 23. of Hood River, were cited for alleged First Degree Criminal Mischief, On September 13, a Board man Ambulance transported a patient from Dr, Lobb's office In Boardman to St, Anthony Hospital, Pendleton. Also on Sept. 13. a Heppner ambulance transported a patient from the Beamer ranch. Balm Fork, Heppner. to Pioneer Memorial Hospital, Heppner. On September 14, the Board man Police Department re sponded to theft reports from several Boardman businesses. Estimated amount of money taken from all was $1,000. Also on Sept. 14, Morrow Co. Sheriff Larry Fetsch re sponded to the scene of an injury accident at 1:36 p m. James Frase Grant, 44, of Waldport, was transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital In Heppner by a Heppner am bulance. On September 16, Steven Dennis Webb. Plymouth, Wash., reported a 1972 Grand Prix stolen from the U & I Inc. parking lot, Boardman. On September 17, a county sheriff's deputy responded to a one vehicle accident throe tenths of a mile north of Highway 74 on Highway 207. Hi MtVi The Injured driver, Robert Claude Buschke, 47, of Maup in, was taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital and was released. He apparently lost control of his vehicle, causing it to leave the road and roll down an embankment. On September 18, Lucy George Lewis, 47, of The Dalles, was arrested for alleg edly driving Under the In fluence of Intoxicants by a county sheriff's deputy. She was transported to The Dalles Jail, since all facilities in this area were full. On September 19, Rod Flugg of Rod's Auto-Motive, Board man, reported a burglary and the theft of numerous air tools: air grinders, drills, wrenches, a C-B radio, a 10 ton hydraulic jack and other items. In another September 19 incident, the sheriff's office received a report of flash flooding in south Morrow County at 4 p.m. Water, mud and debris were reported across Highway 74 between Lexington and Heppner. Traf fic control was a cooperative effort between the sheriff's department, the Oregon State Police and the Heppner Police Department. The State High way Department and county road crews worked into the night to clear mud and debris from the highways. Highway 74 from Mor gan to Heppner had sev eral bad areas. Highway 207 from Sandhollow to Lexington also had several areas where the road had been washed out and traffic was limited to one lane. There was aiso a power outage that lasted about three hours. Officers and members of the clubs at Milton-Freewater, Prairie City, Hermiston, Fcho, Umatilla, Condon, the two clubs in Pendleton, plus Morrow County's three clubs from Boardman, lone and Heppner will have a busy day and educational day, Theta Iowe, Heppner presi dent, states that about 100 people are expected to attend, Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with a get-acquainted coffee time. The district meet ing will follow at 10 a .m , with a welcome from Mrs. Lowe. District Director Connie Tcl lefson of Milton-Freewater, will preside. District and state officers who attend will give presenta tions. Two members of the Heppner club will be conduct ing workshop sessions before and after lunch. Dr. Wallace Wolff will give information about the cultivation of gladioli and Bill Rawlins will educate the group about grow ing dahlias. The noon meal will be prepared and served by members of St. Patrick's Altar Society. Other'features of the meet ing day villi be a Country Store and a sales table featuring plants and miscellaneous items contributed by club members. Profits of the sale will be used to help defray district expenses. Those who will attend have been asked to bring flowers and flower ar rangements for a small flower show.
