I Mr v lone Garden Club learns of flower arranging New Designs and Mechanics of Flower Arranging was demonstrated by Mrs. Pete Slocum of Hermiston for members of the lone Garden Club and guests on Wednes day. September 8, at the lone United Church of Christ. Mrs. Slocum is a member of the Bloomer Cirls Garden Club, the District No.- 10 Flower Arrangers Guild and has fin ished Phase III of Flower Judging School. Mrs, Slocum stated that flower arranging is now a recognized art form both for self enjoyment and competi tion. To be a successful arran ger, she said, one must know about the basic principles of design and of the mechanics; such as containers, needle holders, frogs and other hol ders and oasis. Also, one must understand how to condition flowers and greenery. Following the demonstration refreshments were served by the committee of Delta Huber, Dorothy Burchan, Loree Hub bard and Helen Martin.
