Denny Starr; and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Sylvia Ladd. Cheerleader awards were given by Kathi Pointer to Paula Anderson. Sylvia Ladd. Jammie Skalf and Lori Fetsch. The Outstanding Athlete Awards went to Jeff Hams and Michelle LaRue. Many academic awards were also presented. Principal Chuck Starr presented the math awards. Roger Morter received recognition as a win ner in a National Math Skills Contest. Receiving certifi cates of participation in the contest were Sharon Crowell, Mike Douglas, Sylvia Laud, Howard Leavitt and Anita Palmer. , Spelling Contest awards went to Denny Starr, Chris Rietmann, Michelle LaRue, and Donnie Doherty. Attendance awards were given to Paula Anderson for having a perfect attendance record this year. Jay Love for missing just one day, and Anita Palmer for missing just R'f days in four year$. Mr. Starr also presented Citizen ship Awards to Anita Palmer. Chris Rietmann and Michelle LaRue. National Honor Society awards were presented by Darrel Wilson to Anita Pal mer. Margaret Doherty, Liz McElligott, Michelle LaRue. and Diane Morter. Student of the month awards were also presented by Mr. Starr. Those winners were: for October - Chris Rietmann; November - Michelle LaRue; January - Margaret Doherty; February - Craig Gutierrez: March - Anita Palmer: and April - Denny Starr. The "Ionian" awards were presented by Bob Deeter in the absence of Mr. Peterson: editor - Vince McElligott: as sistant editor - Michelle LaRue; and staff; Brad Schmidt, Chris Rietmann. Cathy Cheney: Roger Morter; and Darrin Padberg. Industrial Arts awards went to Donnie Taylor and Roger Morter for their work on a catapuet. They received blue ribbons. Receiving white rib bons were Craig Guitierrez. Tim Patton. Don Padberg. and Roger Morter. Diane Morter received a blue ribbon in drafting. Jeff Hams received a blue in weld ing and Craig Gutierrez and Troy Linstrom received red ribbons in welding. In the Job Interview cate- re- ceivH a red ribbon and Brad Schmidt t white ribbon. Scott Barnett and Andy Rob erts received recognition for their work in hand tool assem bly. In Accounting I. Vince Mc Elligott received a blue and Troy Lindstrom a red ribbon from Bob Deeter. Deeter presented Brad Schmidt. Elizabeth McElli gott, Margaret Doherty, Anita Palmer and Michelle LaRue awards for Accounting II. Receiving a blue ribbon in Record Keeping was Michelle IRue Receiving red ribbons were Anita Palmer and Mar garet Doherty. Liz McElligott and Cindy White received whit ribbons in that division. Home Economic Awards were presented by Karen Sea son to Jammie Skalf and Paula Anderson. Receiving Language Arts awards for journalism were Donnie Taylor, Cathy Cheney, Brad Schmidt. Margaret Do herty and Michelle LaRue. Composition awards were re ceived by Donnie Doherty. Sylvia Ladd. Craig Gutierrez adn Denny Starr. Blue Mountain Community College Radio Skills Broad casting Awards were given to Chris Rietmann and Donnie Doherty. The "I Dare You" awards were given by Mr. Starr to Craig Gutierrez and Denny Starr The senior class will was read by Michelle LaRue and Cindy Hall. The Teacher of the Year Award, voted annually by the lone Student Body, was pre sented by Brad Schmidt to Barb Stefani. The United Nations Pilgrim age Award of $200 was pre sented by Laura McDougall to Sylvia Ladd. The Instrumental Magazine Awards were given to Chris Rietmann and Roger Childers. Reitmann also won an Out standing Musician Award. The awards were presented by Jim Clough. Certify crops by Farmers have until June 15 to rcrt the sizes and intend ed uses of their wheat, outs, barley, rye and other fnll secded small grains to the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service ASCSh annmmcrd the Morrow Co. ASCS office. Fall seeded crops which are not certified by the deadline will be ineligible for program htwfits. County ASCS official Judy Buschke said some farmers reported their small grains when they signed up for the 1!R2 acreace reduction pro gram and some reported spring seeded crops ASCS randomly checks farms to verify that acreace reports are accurate. ASCS also provide aerial photo graphs for farmers to identify their fields. "The acreage re ports w ill he used to determine compliance with farm pro grams and will also serve as a basis for the 198,1 program base acres for farms." Mrs. Buschke said. Road Report from p. 2 Cemetery and the Irrigon Or dnance Road Another supply of coldmix was produced with the county's pupmill this past week It takes about one and one-half hours to mix a double tanker of asphalt into approximately 350 tons of patching material. This new coldmix has been very successful in helping to solve the county's pothole problem . The bridge on Clarks Can yon w as constructed at a total cost of $14,024 67. This com pares to $127.B82 00 on 'plus S9.B13 00 for engineering and $62,880.00 (plus $11,450.00 for engineering on two compar able bridges that were recent ly built by outside contractors. This all steel and concrete structure should be mainten ance free for many vears. June 15 farmers w ho participate in the KU12 program are required to report the actual planted acre n(!e. on a field by field basis. "Farmers w ho did not sign up for the program could benefit also by certifying their plant ed acreage because the 19B.1 base acres will he based on the certified 1982 acreage." Buschke said. Morrow County farmers who have not certified their fall seeded crops are urged to do no by June 15.
