Columbia Basin Rodeo
Eight Heppner High School
students placed in events at a
Columbia Basin School Rodeo,
held May 1 and 2 in Hermis
ton. Tara Mahoney of Heppner
was named All-Around Cow
girl and Darwin Armstrong of
Drewsy won All-Around Cow
boy. Heppner won a third place
team trophy, with South
Cascade and Redmond taking
first and second respectively.
Tara Mahoney also took
first in breakaway roping,
first in cow cutting, fourth in
barrels, fifth in poles and
seventh in goats.
Other Heppner students
placing were Trisha Mahoney
- 10th in goats and 10th in
barrels: Earl Hammond - first
in saddle bronc and second in
bareback; Lee Rice - fourth in
saddle bronc and third in
bareback; Don Kindsfather -third
in steer wrestling and
seventh in team roping: Mike
Currin - first in steer wrestling
and sixth in team roping; Cliff
Dougherty - third in team
roping: and Marty Britt - fifth
in steer wrestling.
