Funeral services were held
Thursday at Lawn Crcsl
('Impel In Redding. Calif, for
Mary Buchanan Patterson,
former Lexington resident.
Mrs. Patterson recently had
heart surgery at Cedar Senla
Hospital at I Am Angeles, Calif.
Mary was the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Buchan
an and attended school In
U'xington, where she was
raised.
The brothers and sisters of
Mrs. Patterson were present
for the services. Clarence of
John Day, David of the Pasco,
Wash, area, Bud of Concord,
Calif., Ida Aarons of Goshen
and Susie Vinson (Mrs. Del
hert) and Charles of Lexing
ton. Those living locally drove
from Lexington on Wednes
day. Also attending was a step
brother and his wife, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Dawsin of Seattle,
Washington.
Annetta Padberg, Hilda
Yocnm and Delpha Jones
were visitors on Wednesday at
the Good Samaritan Center In
llcrmiston for the Memorial
Services conducted for John
L. Spence who recently passed
uwaytlhere. Mr. Spence was a
brother of Florence McMillan
und an uncle to Delpha Jones.
He had made his home with
the Jones' before moving to
Hermiston.

Haines. Mr. and Mrs. Artie
Richardson and son Raymond
of Cove, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
Maxwell of Mnines and Flor
ence McMillan of Good Sa

Recent visitors at the home
of Krda Pieper to help her
celebrate her birthday were a
daughter, LaVelle Brown and
granddaughter Breanna Bren
nan, of Newport, a daughter
Marcie Hall and Jodi of
Portland, Elmer Pieper of
Hermiston and Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Dick and children of
Newport.
Victor Klinger was a Port
land caller overnight last
week. He has been spending
some time with his mother
and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Puriherg to help with the
ranch work while Mr. Pad
berg is recuperating from a
stay in a Portland hospital.
Lexington Grange will meet
Monday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m.
for a potluck dinner. Leo
Crabtree will present slides on
Yellowstone Park and Mt. St.
Helens.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mounts
of (in-sham have been spend
ing some time in H.'ppner with
her mother, Frieda Majeske
and a sister, Pat Wright and
brother and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Majeske of Lexing
ton. Mrs. Mounts took her
mother to a doctor in Pendle
ton on Thursday for medical
attention. Mrs. Majeske has
Traffic death
toll down
Thirty-one people died in
Oregon traffic accidents in
February, down 30 percent
from February last year when
44 people lost their lives in
traffic, according to the Motor
Vehicles Division.
The February toll brought
the 19(12 count to 58. compared
with 87 fatalities recorded
through February a year ago.
This was the lowest Feb
ruary count since 1975, and the
lowest two-month count since
at least 1970, stated the
division.

Thursday evening for a regu
lar meeting with the NG
Dorothy Rurcham presiding.
Preceding the evening, a
lovely luncheon was served
the members and their guests
for the evening: Marie Mc
Vey, assembly president of
the Rebekah lodges, her
husband, Mervin and the
assembly Warden of Joseph,
Una M;ikin. Tables were
decorated with candles and
flowers. The meeting was
called to order at 8 p.m. at
which time cards were signed
for absent and ill members
and the usual business was
transacted. The introduction
committee consisting of Jovce
Buchanan. Ruth Robinson and
Delpha Jones introduced the
honored guests and Virginia
Ptck. the state appointed ISG
and Hilda Yocom the DDP of
this district, members of Holly
lodge. A tribute to the Bible
was given by Debbie Sharp,
Millie Yocom and Frances
Peck, all dressed in white
formals,

adjourned at 9:30 p.m. after
which refreshments of sherbet
and coffee were served and
the ladies spent some time
visiting. Several of the mem
bers motored to lone Grange
Hall on Saturday where the
Bunchgrass No. 91 lodge
graciously entertained the
district. Dorothy Burcham of
Hollv was elected as chairman
for the coming year and the
district meeting will be held in
Lexington.
Lee Wagonblast and friend
Erma Johnson of Moro have
recently returned from a 15
day trip to Hawaii. They
visited two Islands and report
a very fine vacation.
Irene Padberg had as guests
over the weekend Mr. and
Mrs. Eino Luoto and Fannie
Allstott of Portland. They
attended the wedding anniver
sary of the Cornell Greens In
Heppner. Dinner was enjoyed
on Sunday with the other
guests Dolly Allstott and R.D.
