Richard Groves, vice-chancellor of the Baker Diocese and associate chief judge in the diocesan mar riage court, held his listeners attention as he talked of the independent status of the Diocese of Eastern Oregon. His vision of mission brought many changes to the Episco pal Church during his leader ship, said Krier. Cards defeated by Helix Grizzlies By INK IIKI.LF LARL'K The Cardinal varsity boys surprised everybody as they came from behind and tied with the Helix Grizzlies in regular game time, Friday night. The Cardinals were defeated 56 - 62 in overtime. The Cardinals jumped out to an 11 -6 first quarter lead. The Grizzlies came back in the second quarter to take a one point half-time lead. 27 - 28. In the third quarter the Cardinals were outscored by seven as the Grizzlies took a 36 - 44 lead into the fourth quarter. The Cardinals hit some crucial free throws in the final quarter to send the game into overtime, tied at 50. The Grizzlies hit four of five free throws in overtime as they took a victory over the Cardinals. The Cardinals shot 21 of 43 for 49 percent from the field and 14 of 20 for 70 percent from the charity stripe. The Griz zlies shot 25 of 63 for 40 percent from the field and 12 of 25 for 48 percent from the freethrow line. According to Coach Del LaRue. this was the Cardi nals' best effort of the season.
