State income
mailed to 1.2
State income tax forms are
in the mail. The Oregon
Department of Revenue has
mailed out packets containing
forms and instructions to 1.2
million Oregon residences.
The packets should all be
delivered by Jan. 8. stated a
news release from the Oregon
Dept. of Revenue.
Recent state and federal
legislation caused some
changes on the 1981 Oregon
tax return. A new Oregon law
separates the state tax system
from new federal law, so
provisions of the 1981 federal
Economic Recovery Tax Act
won't apply for Oregon taxes.
The main differences between
state and federal law for 1981
are in depreciation of proper
ty, capital gains on the sale of
a home, and amounts of
interest that are taxable; for
instance, interest from All
Saver Certificates is not
exempt from Oregon tax. The
state tax packet explains the
differences and how to handle
them, continued the news
