A -'i t-VT ' " j jj p Pfi) Parade Chairman Ralph Limanen discusses preparations for this year's Main Street parade with committee member Ron McDonald As always the parade will offer viewers music floats and courts from -surrounding counties. The number of entries in this year's parade is expected to be about the same as last year, says Limanen. and he added that a calliope from the Main Street Cowboys of Pendleton is expected to be on hand. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. August 29. on Main Street in Heppner. All those participating should be at the staging area at the grain elevators on the north end of Gale Street by 8:30 a.m. About $500 in prizes will be awarded to parade entries this year. The grand sweepstakes of $50 goes to the best local i within Morrow County) float. More FFA'ers than ever participate in Fair FFA members across the county are busy preparing their exhibits for the Morrow Countv Fair. This year's fair will involve more FFA'ers than recent years, largely due to the excellent support that the residents of Morrow County have given to the fair Approximately 25 members from Heppner and Riverside High School will exibit live stock at the fair, many more members will exhibit Ag mechanics projects. On Tuesday. August 25. FFA teams will come to Heppner from as far away as Junction City to compete in Livestock Judging and Tractor Driving. All FFA members in the county are urged to partici pate in these contests. For those interested in observing theraetor Driving Contest it begins at 9 a.m. The judging contest will be at 1 p.m. Livestock conformation classes will take place on Wednesday. August 26. Check the fair premium book for exact time and location of these events. Ag mechanics exhibits will be on display throughout the fair. Bon UcDon&ld a i jkj kju jl, U rro 4-H and participants at 1981 Morrow County Fair Cowboys converge in Heppner for rodeo Local cowboys and cowboys from all over the Northwest will converge on Heppner August 29 and 30 for the annual Morrow County and open rodeos. The Morrow County rodeo starts at 7 p.m. .Friday night August 28, and is limited to one-year residents of the county. The open rodeo lasts two days, Sat. and Sun. August 29 and 30, and will begin at 1:30 4-H displays in Annex 4-H Annex for learning, showing By BIKDIXK TVI.IJS Most 4-H projects such as foods, clothing, creative arts, geology, and other natural sciences are on display in the "4-H Annex". The 4-H mem bers appreciate interest in their exhibits shown by those who come by to view, ask questions about the exhibits, and learn about the work of the members. The local cowboys have a chance to win silver buckles in the cow milking,, steer wrestl ing, cow riding and team roping, parrels winners will receive a watch, and break away winners have a chance at a pair of spurs. Perhaps the biggest prizes, however, go to the winners of the calf roping and the lence is always welcome. Come on in, find a chiar. and enjoy the show.
