The lleppner GaieUe-Tlmes, Heppner, Oregon, Thursday, July 39. 1 MI-SEVEN G-T OBified great way to find what your'e looking for TO Cobles 20c JAZETTE-TIMES 'Over the Tee Cup By LINDA SHAW The last two weeks have been busy one at Willow Creek Country Club. Kit George has the course in excellent condition, and the arrival of the new greeni mower should both ease hit task and allow for improved and expanded greens. The women's group is es pecially active. On Tuesday, July 14, 23 women played in the morning and 18 in the afternoon. Winners in morn ing play were: low gross-Dorothy Hawkins, low net-Eileen Padberg, long drive-Linda Shaw, KP.-Jan Thorn, least putts-Sharon Harrison, and most 7's-Joyce Winter. Low gross winners in the afternoon were : lst-Lois H'int, 2nd-Pat Edmundson, and Srd-Betty Carlson. Linda Shaw won low net, with Norma French, second and Eileen Padberg, third. Prizes for least putts were won by Eddi Skow, Muriel Palmer, Harriet- Evans, and Roxie Lovgrefl. Twenty women played in the morning on July 21. Pat Edmundson won low gross with a 39, and Eddi Skow and Lois Hunt tied for 2nd. Eddi Skow had long drive and K.P. and Lota Tibbies had least putts. Mary Beamer won a prize for "Best Shot of the Day." Local golfers showed off on July 17, with two people scoring a hole in one. KrisU Edmundson aced the eighth bole at Willow Run at Board man while playing with her parents. She used a 5-iron on the 120 yard hole. It was also witnessed by Beth Phillipi and her son. At Willow Creek on the same day, Ed Hiemstra had a perfect shot on the ninth hole, using a 7-iron. The word is that he thought the shot looked so good that he left his wife on th tee and roared off in his cart to check the outcome. It was not reported whether or not he went back to get her. The women's match play tournament got underway July 22 and the men's match play tournament started July 26 as part of men's Sunday play. John Shaw cooked breakfast for the men's group. Jan Thorn and Eddi Skow are in charge for the women, and Ron Bowman, John Edmund son, Wayland Hiatt, and John Shaw have organized the men's tournament. The family barbecue on July 26 had 45 persons participat ing in unique scramble in which each team member used only a putter and one other club. Despite this "hand icap," good scores were posted. The Winters and Masseys won with a score of 28; the Kerrs and Wilsons were 2nd; and tied for 3rd were the Greens and Gunder tons and the Willises, Terry Springer, and C.C. Car michael. The Spring, et al. team won 2nd shot KP on No. 2 and the Tibbies and Hiemstras won 2nd shot KP on No. 7. John and Pat Edmundson, Claude and Happy Graham, and Doc and Lota Tibbies were in charge. WCCC members have been invited to a visitation at Klnzua Hills August 2. In addition, the women will play at Condon August S.
