Willow Creek Rd. relocation
work begins in earnest
-
Work on relocation of the Willow Creek
Road, making way for construction of the
Willow Creek Dam, has begun in earnest.
Lopez Paving Co. of Hood River is
contractor for the project, and says it will
bring in about 40 men to complete the job.
The above picture was taken across from
the former Peter Lennon Ranch on Balm
Fork .
Tuesday Don Johnson, resident engineer
for the Corps of Engineers, told the Chamber
of Commerce that Lopez will handle the
relocation of the Willow Creek road, the
building of a bridge over Balm Fork and one

Horse Ground Training; and

numerous to mention, were
also offered.
While staying In campus
dorms, the 4 H members had
"Time for Friends," which
was the theme for the 1981 411
Summer Week. Many of the
activities were designed to
promote the building of lasting
friendships. A guest speaker
talked about "Friendship in

the 80's" and the support that
friends need to receive from
you to continue. One cannot
always draw upon friends for
support without offering sup

grow In direct proportion to
the interest they receive."
A former 4 H er, Julie
Grieb, Uxlngton, volunteered
to be a "counselor" for
approximately 25 girls. It's
somewhat akin to being a
banty hen with 25 chicks. It
can be challenging to lead the
girls to new events and Ideas
while also watching to make
sure all 25 are still with you.
During the week, many
friends were made, but also,

that you want to keep need to
be cultivated If you want to
keep them. Many 4 H ers will
