Shane Laughlin a 211 and F.nc Thompson 21B to round out Heppner'i performance at district. Heppner took seventh out of nine golf teams at the match. Iottie Laughlin shot a 205 at the slate girls tournament May II and 12. Peterson, and Rietmann qualified for the finals with a time of 45.3 which placed them first In their heat. Gregg Rietmann finished second In the preliminaries In the 200 meters to advance him to the finals with a time of 23 ft. Rietmann also ran the too in 1) 7 but did not qualify for the finals. The iftoo-meter relay team consisting of McCabe. Peter son. Iavilt and Rietmann. finished first in their heat fn 3:34.2 to advance them to the finals on Saturday. Margaret Doherty advan ced to the finals in the 400 meters with a first place In a time of 1:00 5. Doherty also qualified in the 200 In 27.3 which placed her second In her heal. Dn Saturday Shawn LaRue threw a personal best of 14(1 feet. 10 inches In the javelin. The 400-meter relay team placed fifth in the finals with a time of 45.4. McCabe had a personal best and a school record in the finals of the 400 meters with a time of 51.9. Rietmann placed fifth in the 200 meteri with a time of 23.5. The 1600-meter relay team brought the Cardinal spectat ors to their , feet as they challenged the defending state champions. St. Mary's for first place. The Cardinals were edged by St. Mary's but had an outstanding time of 3:30.9 for second place and new school record.
