A baccalaureate service, sponsored by the Southern Morrow County Ministerial Assoc iation, was held Sunday evening at the Heppner High School cafetorium in honor of Heppner High School seniors, their families and members of the community. The Reverend John Maas of the Hope and Valby Lutheran Churches delivered the message. Pre-register for fall tole painting 'Columbia' Tour date changed By B1RDINETVUJS MORROW EXTENSION SERVICE With a full bus load ached-, uled for the "Hello Summer" tour to Cascade Locks, it was necessary to change the date to June S to get accomoda tions on the "Columbia" tour boat. The tour was originally scheduled for June 2, so it is hoped the one day change will not eliminate any who planned to participate. All who have signed on for the tour will receive complete information on plans for the day, final costs, places and times to meet the chartered bus. Money paid will be refunded to anyone who finds they cannot participate on the third. Please call 676-9642 as soon as possible if you must cancel, as there is a waiting list hoping for a seat. Annual Spray Rodeo Half Marathon slated May 23-24 The weekend of May 23 and 24 the small town of Spray will be the host to the 34th Annual Rodeo approved by the North west Rodeo Association and the 16th Annual Eastern Oregon Half-Marathon Race. The festivities will begin Friday evening with the crowning of the Queen who will be one of the following girls, Cammie Moyer from Heppner. Tani Johnson from Canyon City, Paula Goddard from Condon, Shelley Rea aoner from Dayville. Sandra Kroske from Spray and Clara Clark from Long Creek. The dance will begin at p m . with music by the Northwest Ex press. Bright and early on Satur day morning the runners throughout the state will be forming at Service Creek for the Half-Marathon which will start at a.m. and will finish in Spray. The parade will begin ' at 11:30 a.m., the rodeo at 1:30 and Saturday evening the rodeo dance will be held with music once again Northwest Express. bv the On Sunday morning beginn ing at 6 a m., the Legion Auxiliary will be holding a buckeroo breakfast, at 8 a m the Grant County Chapter of Cowboys for Christ will be sponsoring a church service at the rodeo grounds, and at 12:30p m. another parade will be held which will end at the rodeo grounds for the final performance of the rodeo beginning at 1:30. Pre-registration for the fall Tole Painting classes offered by Blue Mountain Community College must be completed by June 30, according to Nancy Brownfield, BMCC Heppner area coordinator. The tole painting class will be offered Tuesday nights in Lexington from 7 to 10 p.m. beginning in September. Tui tion for the course is $26. Instructors are Phyllis Piper and Eileen Padberg. "Stroke fruit" will be the design taught during the fall class. "Since there are a number of different objects which may be used for the class project, we are asking students to register early," according to Mrs. Brownfield. After completion of registra tion, the instructors will contact each student to take orders for the object they wish to paint. People interested in learn ing the art of tole painting or continuing the craft should contact Mrs. Brownfield at 676-5039 for registration information. PEST FREE pests.
