The students of the four top grades had prepared an in teresting program of instru mental and vocal selections. Special awards were present ed. Lisa Nix was presented a National School Thorns award and chorus pins were given to all choir members for the number of years participation in the choir. Accompanists for the band and choir numbers included Danny Forlenberry and Matt Howard on percussion: Car olvn Huphes nnd Don Bovce at the piano and Jim Ackley on bass. Three special numbers were featured on the program "Lady" (arr. Lionel Richie) by vocalist Joe Struthers; "Seasons in the Sun" (arr, Frank Metis) by Mike Nolan with backup by Marti Baker and "Suddenly" (arr. John Forrar) by Marti Baker and Steve Groce. Band numbers were: "High Bridge" by Jim Curtiow; "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" (arr. James Plyhar); "Chant and Jubilo" by W. Francis McReth: "Highlights from Pink Panther" (arr. John Edmondson : "Longer" (arr, John Edmondson) and finally "overature for a Festival" by Claude T. Smith. The choir members presen ted "I'm Feelin Free (arr. Roger Emerson): "Lean on the Wind" (arr. John Carter) and "Hello Sunshine" (arr. Roger Emerson). Terry Riddle, Tony Currin and John Mover. Last Tuesday afternoon V Ag class was held at the Rodeo Grounds in Heppner under the direction of instructor, Roger Records. Morrow County Grain Growers donated a swather to the class to help train the students to operate various types of farm equip ment. On Friday, May 8, many of the students traveled to Mil- ! The Heppner advanced team won by a wide margin - 500 points. Individual scores for the Heppner FFA students are as follows: Tony Currin - 2nd overall with 737 points. Jeff Bailey -4th overall. 807 points. Cliff Dougherty - 5th overall, 820 points. Jay Hayes - 6th overall, 836 points and Marty Britt - 8th overall with 920 points. Also participating were: Mike Currin, Andy Samples, Bob McEwen, Craig Miles. Duane Epping, Dean Rill, and Eric Storz. In the livestock judging contests the Heppner begin ning team finished fifth and the advanced team finished sixth. Terry Gray finished eighth overall in the livestock judging contest. Also participating in the hudging contests were: Mike Brosnan, Matt Clark. Shane Laughlin, Mona Clark. Bruce Way, Terry Riddle, Jay Hay es, Marty Britt, Mike Currin. Andy Samples. Bob McEwen, Craig Miles. Duane Epping. Dean Rill and Eric Storz. The top three placing con testants from that contest will compete in the State Fair in August. Morrow Countv elementary and secondary students will participate in a district-wide spelling contest at Columbia Junior Mich on Thursday. Heppner High School Baccalaureate will be held this Sunday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. The location of the service has been changed from the Catholic Church to the high school cafetorium. John Maas will address the students with Bonnie Arrington giving the invocation. Jim Launer will read scripture and Nancy Miller will also present a reading. Carolyn Plocharsky will give the blessing. ' Vocal selections for the service will be provided by a group of teachers, students and local ministers.
