Irrigon Stokes Landing open
By FKANCKS HOSK WILSON
The Stokes Landing Res
tmirant opened about two
weeks ko In Irrlgon, where
the former Pivot Point Cafe
hud been located. It Is now
operated by Bill and Janet
Cooley and Doug and Nancy
Howell.
The name Stokes Landing
hiis a colorful history. In the
eurly days of the century It
was the name of the port on
the Columbia River. At one
time a ferry boat traveled
irom the landing to Coolidge
on the Washington shore.
Other boats on the river could
dock close to shore because of
the deep water at this location.
The present Stokes Landing
is a pleasant place for refresh
ments with a nautical theme.
They specialize in hamburg
ers, a variety of ice cream and
sandwiches, hot chili and
salads.
