The evening started with a potluek dinner, with the program following. Featured speaker of the evening was Chuck Starr of lone, who was present to discuss the school budget and answer any questions. After a most instructive talk, the business got under way with Kenneth Smouse, obligating Susie Smith as a new member. Fine reports . were heard from the legisla tive and ag chairmen. Two resolutions were made, one on the Amtrak run, to keep it as is, and the other to encourage a job on the Bonneville Locks to increase and speed the flow of traffic. The discussion of deepening the channel of the Columbia River for ocean going vessels was also discus sed and a resolution is being written for discussion at the next meeting, concerning this. Jody Marlatt, who attends Walla Walla Community Col lege is visiting with his mother and other relatives during the spring vacation. Mark Piper and a friend. Dave Mitchell of Bremerton, were visitors over the week end with Mark's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Del Piper, and to attend the anniversary of Del's Market. The day was a fun day with a breakfast of pancakes, weiners. and eggs and coffee served from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Door prizes were won by George Steagall. and Joan Morris. Congratula tions to you Delbert and your fine crew for a good year. The spaghetti supper and card party at the Lexington Grange Saturday night was well attended. The winners at the card party were: high men - Lyle Peck; high women -Josie Peck; low men - Dennis' Papineau; and low women Marie Yocom. traveling - Marion Robinson and Char lene Papineau. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Howard, Sr., spent several days last week in Eastern Oregon vacationing and visit ing friends. Joyce Buchanan who spent last week vacationing at the Oregon Coast returned home on Saturday. Alice Majeske. owner of Ally's Ceramics, and several other ladies attended the ceramic show at the Expo building in Portland on Satur day. The ladies report many lovely things were on display, and many new items for the 1982 coming holidays. New techniques were demonstrat ed and new paints and uses were shown. In fact, the ladies report a very fine show was in progress. The benefits from this show will go to the National Kidney Foundation. Motoring down were: Alice Majeske. Leila Palmer. Linda Dunlap, Ginger Keithley, Lin da Keithley, Donna Osmin, and Zelma Felt. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Smith of Hermiston. Grace Smith of Cornelious and a brother and wife of Mr. Smith from Beaverton were visitors at the C.C Jones home on Thursday evening. Cecil Jones and Kevin Smith spent the weekend in Depoe Bay where they helped with some yard work and repairs at the beach house of the Jones's daughter, Char lene Whitney. Mr. Jones spent Saturday night with his bro ther Wm, N. Jones at Linroln Cy. Flossie Breeding of Hermis ton has been removed from the retirement center at Good Samaritan Center to the nursing home. Mrs. Breeding has brothers, Delbert Vinson in Lexington and Darrell in Heppner. Mrs. Key, who has been a patient in Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner, Is spend ing some time recuperating at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt. Tom and Mark Hammond motored to Hermiston on Saturday to visit relatives and friends. Tom returned home nn Sunday but Mark remained for a longer visit, Scott Poor-man from Uma tilla wus visiting this week at the Frank Robinson home. He is a brother of Marion Robinson, Marie Yocom spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom. Marie attends school In Pendleton. Dennis Papineau Is spend ing the spring vacation with Berl Stlllmun in the moun tains, Mrs. Leonard Slate of Bend, her mother, and daughter were visitors at the L.E. Ruhl home one dav last week. Mrs. Slate and Mrs. Ruhl are cousins and have correspond ed over 30 years. This was the first time the ladies had ever been able to meet. Other visitors at the L.E. Ruhl home were their granddaughters from Hermiston, children of Mr. and MrB..
