Thursday, March 12. 1981 Murray "to represent Heppner in Mr. Oregon Teen program in June Parties set for PMH Nursing Home residents I distributed in the community and local contributions donat ed will go towards general research, public awareness, and patient services for mult iple sclerosis. The participant turning in the highest coin cannisler total will receive the State Community Support Award. The program is presently in its eleventh season and has been unique to Minnesota. Activities will now become a national program as loo outstanding young men from throughout the nation will be selected to take part In the second Mr. U.S.A. Teen Pro gram which will bo held in Bloonu'ngton. Minnesota, Aug ust 8 - lfi. Oregon with its first state program will be repre sented at the national event by the young man selected., as Mr. Oregon Teen during the conclusion or state program activities. Pioneer Memorial Hospital residents will he the honored guests at two parties within the next week. First will be an ice cream social on Thursday. March 12. The social will he preceded by a meeting of the Pioneer Memorial Hospital Auxiliary at 1 p.m. On Tuesday, March 17, at 2 p. in., (lit residents will be treated to an "old fashioned St. Patrick's Day party." Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rod Murray, and a student at Heppner High School, has been selected to represent Heppner in the 19S1 Mr. Oregon Teen Program to be held June 19 and . 20 in Eugene, Oregon. Seventy-five young men from throughout the state selected to participate will take part in a variety of social, recreational and fellowship activities during the two-day event. Participants were selected on a basis of achieve ments in scholastics, athle tics, and a service to school and community as well as personality and general teen image. Official charity of the pro gram is "Youth vs Multiple Sclerosis" and each state participant will have the opportunity to participate in a "Strike for MS" bowling event which is part of planned program activities. State nursing home rules discussed Fri. On March 13. the new state rules for nursing homes will be discussed at a one-day training session, open to the public, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Instructors will be represen tatives of the Oregon Health Division. This training will be held at the Pendleton Senior Center, located at 920 S.W. Frazer. Pendleton. Among topics discussed will be: patient rights and care, dietary, respite and day care, physical environment and social services.
